i live on my own, no family within a few hundred miles. I fell earlier and twisted my leg which has swollen up and I can’t put weight on it.the phone advice line say see my gp today but what can they do ?
I think I would be unreasonable but idk I can’t get around my house to make food and I can’t do the stairs to get to the bathroom or bedroom.

MNHQ really need to step up with these fucking threads where idiots with zero medical knowledge give instructions with such authority.

Hope you’re ok OP.

And for the avoidance of doubt for all the fucking armchair medics non weight bearing leg injuries need urgent fucking assessment.

Wrong!!!! Thry only want life threatening emergencies, threats to life and limb. Anything else should go to:
Minor Injuries
GP
Pharmacy
Treat at home

Look at the NHS info campaigns.

Have you ever asked yourself why Accident and Emergency isn't just called "Emergency"? It's because it is recognised that some (not all) accidents result in injuries that are not emergencies, but do require A&E! Minor Injury units may have Xray machines, but not all do, none of the other places you mention do, so actually a probable break may well require A&E.

Pretty basic first aid to know that a swollen ankle might be broken and therefore will probably need an x-ray.

This is why first aid should be taught in school and in workplaces 😉
