To think people should stop debating grammar mid-thread?

I get that spelling and grammar matter in the real world but when someone is making a genuine point, especially in a fast-moving or emotional thread, do we really need the “your/you’re” police jumping in?

It derails the topic and just feels smug. AIBU to think we can let a few typos slide without making it a teachable moment?

I don't know. I hate poor grammar and it smacks me in the gob when I see it so distracts me from the post.

Your right 😉

It’s really annoying and derails threads. Also, at least 1 in 10 people are dyslexic.

I agree. It's just nasty sometimes too, some people really struggle and it could be due to a disability. I suspect the people who do it know that and are just cruel people who get a kick our of bringing others down.
