Have a "pleasure" to live beside a primary school. Parents park in front of our house and throw trash into our hedge. Coffee cups, food leftovers, nappies Its DISGUSTING

OP posts:

Nothing to do with the school, don't waste their time.

AppleKatie · 15/07/2025 15:38

You could, and they will prob send an email which might slow down the littering for a day or two. Unfortunately it’s unlikely to make it go away.

BrentfordForever · 15/07/2025 15:38

I’d report

Fearfulsaints · 15/07/2025 15:39

It is disgusting but not something the school can do much about.

They can send an email or put something in the newsletter but parents won't read it or if they are the type of person that does that, they won't give a shit the school has said something.

NC28 · 15/07/2025 15:40

They’ll just send an email to remind people (as if you should have to) not to do it.

What I’d do, is I’d take the rubbish and put it right back on their car. Under the wiper blades, let any liquid in the coffee cups run out, anything that might smear (like chocolate) lie face down on the windscreen. Repeat until it stops.

NoisyMonster678 · 15/07/2025 15:41

Tell the kids to tell them off for being a bunch of tossers.

Pun intended.

So what do you think she should do?

Of course it's to do with the school.

BeamMeUpCountMeIn · 15/07/2025 15:45

Yes. They might pop it in the newsletter.

Also take photos and email to the council who might send a community police officer down for a little chat. Or, ideally, fine all the scummy parents.

Why is a school responsible for the actions of adults not on their premises?

BeamMeUpCountMeIn · 15/07/2025 15:53

Or, and this takes a thick skin and possibly ability to run if needed, Litter pick around them and see what they do.
I have done this around some teens in our street and they slunk off sheepishly.

What makes you think that the school doesn't have the ability to contact all the parents who are picking their children up from its premises and remind them of acceptable behaviour?

I don't think they lack the ability. I think the parents that do this lack the capacity to give a fuck and act on the schools suggestion to not be awful.

If it's a public highway whst can school do?
At my sons old primary school, they would just put it on the newsletter but it's not school, s to tell off individual parents for littering.

Do you really think school staff have the time for that ?
And if the parents continue than what,?

BodenCardiganNot · 15/07/2025 16:25

Yes say it to the school but realistically what can they do? Remind people, put in in newsletter but that's about it.

DuskyPink1984 · 15/07/2025 16:27

Parents? I would approach them directly as soon as I saw them do that!

Nobody on MN ever approaches anyone for any reason.

GonnaeNoDaeThatJustGonnaeNo · 15/07/2025 16:31

Police non emergency and /
or council.

A single paragraph added to the normal weekly email is not time consuming.

They often send reminders about parking. This is no different. I agree it's not their responsibility and really shouldn't need saying, however they have all the parents' contact emails. No one else does. And no, it's not likely to stop it happening, however at least the culprits will have had it pointed out that their behaviour is unacceptable.

Good point.

I do agree with you though - the people who do this do it because nobody confronts them.

Same with the threads about “someone chapped on my car window and told me to move my car away from their house, they don’t have a driveway but said they don’t like unknown cars parked there”. Reply asking them why they apologised and moved, OP replies “because I was afraid that he would hit me/anxiety over confrontation/have difficulties saying no/was embarrassed”.

Bit of backbone required! Nobody ever seems able to stick up for themselves.

ShanghaiDiva · 15/07/2025 16:42

I would contact the school. It takes minutes to add a reminder to the school newsletter or weekly email. The school is part of the community and parents should be modelling the type of behaviour we expect from children. I would also approach anyone dropping rubbish.

Yes as I said up.thread my sons old primary school would have put it in the newsletter ,but the way I Read your post I thought you were suggesting the school contact every parent individually!!

WestwardHo1 · 15/07/2025 19:53

Yeah that would be time consuming fair play
