My DD had an ECG many months ago and after asking for her medical docs to be released, I can see this was abnormal, but no one told me!

i will ask the drs surgery tomorrow, but does anyone have any knowledge of this?? I’m worried.

How old is your daughter? The ECG machines are usually set for an ‘adult’ and the normal ranges change depending on age.

She is 11

Because I’d assume it was reviewed by an actual person who deemed it normal/ok for her? But you’re right to check. Is there nothing else in the notes documented about reviews, etc from the same time period?

I can’t see any other info relating to the ECG. Hopefully you’re right that it’s linked to her age. It’s just made me worry a little that it could have been missed.

It looks like it's not the best quality read out. Machines often say abnormal but they are easily confused by artefact - muscle tremors etc.
I'm no ECG expert but do check with GP that it has been reviewed by a medical professional.

The machine does an automatic interpretation but is very rarely accurate and as pp says it is generally assuming the patient is an average sized adult male. The doctors will do their own interpretation which is far more accurate!

I have had 2 ECGs in the last 6 months. Both gave we information that scared me into thinking I had serious problems with my heart. My GP was lovely and said that the machine can give an abnormal result based on a tiny little thing and that what matters is the medical interpretation.

My second one said that I’d had a heart attack! I was in a total panic til the GP said there was very little difference from my previous one and that I had definitely not had a heart attack.

She said that they were considering taking the information off the ECGs that go onto the NHS app as it worries people unnecessarily.

I’m trusting the GP that is looking after me to read my ECG and interpret it correctly. They will explain them if you ask of course.
