Kids swearing

It's Summertime! Beautiful day outside so every window in the house is open.

And all I can hear is " pick up the Fking ball!" "He gets it in the fking goal!"

Literally every sentence has at least one swear word. These are kids aged 6-10 playing football outside.

The parents are the same so clearly it's where they get it from and don't even try to speak to them about their child's language. You will get a whole load of said swear words thrown at you.

AIBU to be disgusted by the language that comes from kids these days? Or should I just accept that it's the new way of life and that I'm just turning into a grumpy old woman?

I don’t think it’s a new way of life as IME there is no more of a trend towards kids swearing now than there was when I was growing up.

But yeah, I’m with you. It’s pretty horrible to hear kids that young sweating.

Our next door neighbour 9 screams at his mum get off me you fat cunt etc. it’s all blamed on his sen but fact is he’s learned the words somewhere - and it’s from his angry dad. I feel so sorry for her but yeah also I’d like not to hear it screamed through the walls as well

StressedQueen · 13/07/2025 18:59

I agree, kids that young should not be swearing at all and not so openly either

BoredZelda · 13/07/2025 19:06

It’s not new, it has always happened.

I couldn’t care what other people’s kids do, as long as mine didn’t swear, I was good with that.

MissyB1 · 13/07/2025 19:09

Eugh yeah it sounds horrible 🙁

Swearing is now so commonplace in adults that it’s bound to filter down to children.

I hate it when anyone cant form a single sentence without adding a swear word to it, its just unnecessary. I swear sometimes when I hurt myself or am angry but its definitely not part of my day to day vocabulary. And if I heard my kids swearing they would be in trouble I would never accept that from my children

Same here. I swore when my son was about 2 and he copied me. I was mortified and drummed it into him not to say those words again but around here when toddlers swear, everyone has a jolly good chuckle. It really bugs me.
