Don't know what to do about this, should I report it?

We have a new neighbour in our HA block of flats. I just came home and could hear him (he was inside his flat so LOUD) literally screaming down the phone on speaker phone to I assume his partner or ex, that she was a fucking piece of shit a scummy prostitute and deserved to die and if she didn't do it he was going to.

I have no idea of either of their names so I'm not sure how much help a police report would be. I'm just quite worried about what sounded like a young girl (not that this makes any odds really but new neighbour is around 50)

I banged on his door and told him to leave her alone and he got quite aggressive with me (pushing me and even trying to nut me). So I'm worried about bringing any kind of trouble to our door (we have plenty already in this block!). But I don't feel I can let this lie.

Any thoughts?

Yes absolutely report it.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 12/07/2025 17:21

Yes, definitely report it.

Catherine3436 · 12/07/2025 17:21

You need it on record that he threatened you too

BuffetTheDietSlayer · 12/07/2025 17:25

He could quite easily report you for banging on his door and shouting at him first.

I think there's a difference between me banging on his door to tell himself to just leave it and a middle aged man trying to nut a five foot women after he was challenged about threatening his ex with killing her.

But you know, you do you.

İf you know the address the police will be able to find his name and number etc

I would also report to housing association as well. They might be able to give details to police and would be good to have a record of it, in case police don't take it seriously.

You were the aggressor. It’s not like he was shouting at a person in his flat, he was just shouting down a phone. You had no needs to intervene.

You think you’re allowed to bang on someone’s door and shout at them, and should get away with it just because you’re short? Confused

Because I stand up for my fellow women (and men). I don't think I've protrayed quite how aggressive the male neighbour was being. As I said she was on speaker phone and audibly sobbing and he screamed at her to kill herself or he'd do it for her.

It's not about being short but let's face it a five foot woman is no match for a 6 ft 4 man.

So, if you contact the police will you be truthful and tell them that you went to his door banging and shouting first, before he threatened you?

Just because a person is tall that does not mean they cannot be harmed or feel threatened.

What you should’ve done is go up to your own flat and call 101 to report hearing a neighbour use threatening language.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 12/07/2025 18:19

OP you'll find you're always in the wrong on here.

If you hadn't gone to his flat, you'd have had loads of responses telling you that you should have intervened and challenged the man.

Anyway. You can ring 101 and log it with them. That's my advice FWIW, and I wouldn't go anywhere near this nutjob again. He sounds dangerous.

Op I was on your thread (and a concerned poster!) about your abusive husband and the wry aggressive fights you had (have) with him.

Are you safe now hence worrying about a neighbour? @Andoutcomethewolves
