I live in a city centre that has a few different live music venues, from big stadiums to smaller events. Obviously if there is something I really want to go to I buy tickets when they come out, but if there's something I'm less fussed about I decided closer to the time.
Previously you used to be able to get resale tickets at a good price but over the last few years people seem really greedy and would prefer their tickets go unsold than to sell them off cheap? Why? As an example there was a big gig on tonight, (not Oasis) had a look out of interest and there are still a small amount of unsold tickets available on ticketmaster. Yet on all the resale sites there are tickets all on for more money (sometimes nearly double!). Surely nobody is going to buy resales, with the potential risk of being turned away, when normal' tickets are still available anyway, let alone pay twice as much for them?
I appreciate nobody owes anyone anything and understand it must be gutting to sell tickets at a loss, but personally if I couldn't make an event, I'd rather at least get twenty or thirty quid, and have someone else enjoy themselves, than get nothing and the ticket goes to waste. Am I missing something? I thought perhaps all the resellers are ticket touts but surely the same applies to them - it would be better to recoup some losses?
