He didn't apologise for what he did. He apologised for 'mispronouncing' her name in fact he repeatedly referred to her by a totally different name. He also waxed lyrical about her father from whom she is estranged. The most basic level of research would have told him this. If he is so intent on commenting on people in the audience (completely unnecessary anyway) he could at least act like a professional and get the information he is spouting correct.
And if he gets it wrong he should apologise for what he has actually done, i.e.be too damn lazy and incompetent to learn the woman's name before deciding to comment on her, rather than making up a 'mispronunciation' excuse.
