6 year old playing Fortnite

My husband and I have been together 5 years and married for 3.
I have 3 dc ages 16, 13 and 10. Dh has one child 6.

Sc has very little rules at their mums house. They had a phone for their 6th birthday with access to WhatsApp and no restrictions on the internet or you tube etc. A few months later they were bought a switch and now they have unrestricted access to playing Fortnite.
Maybe I’m a bit behind times but this really horrified me. A 6 year old having access to a game rated at 12 plus with no safety features etc turned on.

my dh isn’t clued up on all the kids games etc and he seemed shocked when I said the age rating etc too.
I’ve said that I think the rules in our house need to be fair for all the children. So he doesn’t have his phone here and he won’t be allowed those games here either as my youngest doesn’t.
Is that reasonable?

My 7 year olds have access to a phone to call and message their Dad, but it's given to them when they ask and returned to me when they have finished the call or message.
I think 6 is far too young to have unrestricted access to a phone and/or the Internet. It's placing too much responsibility upon young shoulders.
I do allow my DCs access to a couple of games on Fortnite, but only when I am in the room with them and can see what they are doing.
When they are with their father, they are allowed to play/watch/do whatever and it infuriates me.
It's very difficult for children to be brought up in two such different households, but it is what it is.

100% agree OP. No 6 year old needs a phone. @CosycoverI am sorry, but it’s not ok that your six year old has a phone! Can’t they speak to friends and family via FaceTime/teams on your phone?!
