I’ve lost 60 pounds!

Just want to share really. I have a small circle. Only had a couple of people mention it! One stone to go which seems so doable.

Lost it mostly through dieting but have introduced weight training recently. I just don’t eat plates and plates of pasta anymore. I very much relied on food for comfort and ate mindlessly. Even when I wasn’t even hungry.

Proud of myself.

When I first stepped on the scales I was very much in denial. Assumed I had 25/30 pounds to lose. Which wasn’t great but not a scary amount. I didn’t see how it would even be possible to lose 75 pounds when reality hit.

so happy not to feel like a blob anymore!

Now you're nearing the point that you want to reach start thinking about the practicalities of keeping it off- you've achieved so much already and you can totally continue to smash this!!!

That's brill! I need to lose some weight so I'm about to start dieting and exercise. Do you have any tips?

Specter1989 · 06/07/2025 11:12

Amazing well done, you should feel absolutely proud of yourself.
I have lost 3 stone and need to loose half of a stone and I'm done! Although this last stretch is the hardest it just doesn't want to budge.
Any tips?

PuppiesProzacProsecco · 06/07/2025 11:33

I've lost 40lbs since January and it's made a huge difference - you've lost half as much again! Congratulations OP!

Placker · 06/07/2025 11:34

Thank you all x

@Ohstickman one thing that helped me was really finding a love for cooking again. I really have taken time to make myself lovely meals which are very healthy. For example I will marinade chicken, bbq it and make a lovely salad with homemade sauces/chutneys/salsa.

that way I still get to enjoy my food. But more for the quality as opposed to just the quantity as I previously did.

And planning meals in advance has definitely stopped me from getting so ravenous that I eat half the fridge.

One thing that helped me was that definitely around 6 weeks ago I was plateauing which was SO demoralising, I decided to switch to maintenance for a bit. When I restarted being in a calorie deficit I found my weight loss was back on track.

I would never have believed this prior to it working for me

Amazing work!! it takes so much dedication to lose that amount - you should be so proud.

Don’t be disheartened that it’s not been mentioned much - I think it’s very out of fashion at the moment to comment on people’s bodies and weight (and probably rightly so). I mentioned to a mum (who I know pretty well) at the school gates that she was looking fantastic and had she been “reducing”. She didn’t say much but texted me later to say she thought it was inappropriate of me to mention it and I’d made her feel uncomfortable commenting on her body. Fair enough and I won’t do it again!! I’m 40 (she’s younger) and very much of the generation where it was okay (even desirable) to comment on someone’s weight loss.

Well done, go you ! You have every right to feel very proud of yourself.
Can I ask how you dealt with the mindless comfort eating as that is my problem too ? I eat reasonably sensibly throughout the day and am reasonably active, but in the evening I will sit and eat my way through a ton of rubbish without even thinking, I find it very hard to stop this.

So I will make grazing boards cause I know I will want to pick at something on the sofa at night, but instead of eating a family sized bag of crisps I’ll make a plate with healthier but still appetising foods. A plate will include things like:

  • cornichons
  • popcorn
  • Turkey slices
  • a few cubes of cheese
  • homemade kimchi
  • olives
  • chocolate covered strawberries (only a couple)
  • melon balls
  • pickled veg

i enjoy making healthy bites which feel decadent. Last night I made blackened Cajun prawns on cucumbers with a green goddess dressing. It was filling and so delicious. I think I just direct my food noise in a healthier way now,

Well done! I was one of those smug genetically slim people who thought weight loss was easy, until I had a baby and hit 40 and realised how flipping hard it is to lose even a little bit. 60 lbs is an immense achievement and you should feel really proud.

Specter1989 · 06/07/2025 12:36

I think that's what I need to do, I'm on a low calorie diet as I'm over 40 so even harder and I think my body is just used to it.
Will have a little shift in food patterns and calories for a few days

Thank you that's a great idea, and sounds delicious, I think my mistake ha been thinking I have to just not eat in the evening(which is hard) rather than find better things to eat !
