Interview at DD school

I have an interview next week at my DD school for a TA role. She is due to go into Y2 in September. The school has said they are keen to interview me. I’m wondering, they know I’m a parent there but do you know they’ll know who I am/which is my dc?Has anyone else worked at same school as your DC and would you recommend/ not recommend it?

Of course they will know.
I have worked at dd's school - it was fine because she was young at the time. She would not have been so keen if she was older. It can be tricky wearing mum hat and employee hat at the same time, I found I ended up being more 'employee' than 'mum'

I work at the same school as my son but not in a student facing role so I don’t really see him much. Not much help to you I know but there are certain things I’ve not been able to get involved with in my role such as safeguarding due to potential conflict of interest.

Yes!
Loads of people do it. I did. My sister did. Loads of mum friends have been teachers, cleaners, dinner ladies or TAs. My kids old secondary school (DS17 just left yr13) has kids there who’s parents are Head, Deputy Head, 6th form head and so many teachers with kids at or previously at the school. It’s a great school.

I’d say around half of the TAs at our school are parents! It’s really not uncommon. They will know you have a child at the school, it wouldn’t be an issue.

I know loads of teachers and TAs who work at their DC’s school, it’s very common. It makes commuting / drop off so much easier. Parents’ evening can feel a bit weird at first but you get used to it and it’s nice being completely aware of what they’re doing at school.

There’s a 1 to 1 TA in my DD’s year 1 class whose child is in the same class. I don’t know how that would work if child needs mum but the mum loves the job, she comes and leaves school with her children so no wrap around care needed and on sports day, she was there working as well as watching her own child too
