My partner and I have seen a property we've totally fallen in love with. Really knocked our socks off. Over budget, but with a bit of a squeeze I think we can make it work.

We are just preparing to list our property, with a view to selling quickly and making a proceedable offer on the flat we like. My sister suggested we list with the same agent we are looking to buy through, as they may be more motivated to sell our property if it will result in an onward sale through them. We had the agent round to value our flat today.

Only issue is, the agency is Foxtons. The agents we have met have been decent (better than some others we've encountered, more switched on and responsive), their fee is the same as another valuation we've had, but they just have such a bad reputation, I'm genuinely worried it would put buyers off seeing our flat in the first place.

The Foxtons valuation was high, about 8% above the other two we have received. I would be inclined to list at a lower price in pursuit of a quick sale, but worry that people will automatically assume Foxton's properties are overpriced and not consider our listing price as fair.

My question is: are they going to look less favourably on me as a buyer if we get them out to value then choose to list with another agent? The property we want to buy is a total one off, once it's gone it's gone and we're unlikely to find another like it, so I'm inclined to try my best to keep the agent onside.

"are they going to look less favourably on me as a buyer if we get them out to value then choose to list with another agent?"

It doesn't matter what they think of you. They have a legal obligation to put your offer forward. Or you could go to the sellers direct, your choice.

You really just need to get it on Rightmove ASAP. Use 'I am the agent' if you must. Estate agents are massively overrated and really do precious shit-all for a heck of a lot of money (I used to work with some).

There was a local Foxtons, it closed. The subsequent tenants of the building found a lot of information on a whiteboard remaining which had not been removed, containing sales data and things which could be traced to individual staff.

Please use another estate agent.
