Party bags with money inside?

My soon-to-be 7 year-old is having a laser tag party at the end of July and there is a massive games arcade in the atrium, which I just know all the kids will want to hang about at!

Would it be crazy to give each child £2 each to play a game or two of their choice instead of a party bag? Or would this cause some kind of chaos?

Vote:

YABU - the kids will argue, complain, run riot, become gambling addicts...

YANBU - giving money to spend at the party rather than a bag full of tat is genius

I think it's okay but not instead of a party bag

My kids would love £2 instead of a party bag but my eldest would just pocket the money and not spend it😂😂

Clearly in the minority here but I’d be unimpressed if another parent gave my child money to go on arcade games. Fine to make that decision for your own child but please don’t make it for mine.

What? “Make that decision for my child.” Whats decision? It’s an arcade game. Do your kids not play games? Didn’t you grow up playing video games at bowling? Or air hockey, or the basketball hoop game or the bunchpag strength tester? What exactly are you imagining?

What an odd reaction. I’d think your were utterly mad if you said, “I can’t believe you made that decision for my child.” Do you get annoyed if your kid watches TV at someone’s house too?

I’d prefer a pot of 2p’s than a £2 tho.

I actually did exactly this. At a soft play with lots of toy machines, rather than for arcade games. It was a treat for my own DCs as I usually don’t let them, and there was lots of choice for the others. I think it worked. Snuck in cupcakes as well and that was enough.

We did this at DDs last birthday at laser tag. Got a job lot of little snap button purses from Amazon cheap and put £3 in each one. Figured I’d spend about £30 on party bag tat if I did something else and this way 5hey would all use up a few minutes at the end of the party on the machines, they loved it and there was a candy floss machine that was very popular.
