Neighbours noises

I live in a terraced house like many people in the Uk. Been here happily for more than 10 years.

About 3 years ago we had new neighbours move in. Polite enough but since moving in they have had a baby who is now 2 and a puppy terrier mix breed.

The baby cries and grizzles almost all of the time and the dog constantly barks. I can’t decide which irritates me more but I literally can’t go in the kitchen without the barking starting. Like it knows I am at the kitchen sink!
its the same in the back bedroom, garden and any time I leave/return to the house.

The baby has always been a cryer but I think she’s got worse. I get woken up every single night by her crying sometimes for hours on end. Her parents sometimes take her out in the garden to sooth her but that sets the dog off and I end up being awoken before 6am most days due the noise.

i know babies cry and that little dogs can be yappy but I have an autoimmune continue which is negatively impacted by poor sleep. 2 years this has been going on and I am am so fed up that I am looking to move.

any suggestions on anything that I could do to help the situation in the meantime

Not sure there's much you can do to be honest - children cry and small dogs are often yappy. Maybe play some music in the kitchen to try and drown it out? The 2 year old won't be 2 forever and will at some point sleep through the night. You could try speaking to them about the barking but it's difficult to stop a barky dog barking! Moving might be your only option but there's no guarantee of quiet neighbours anywhere really.

Must be tough , nothing worse than having your sleep disturbed.

it’s just normal living noises unfortunately, could you look at getting some soundproofing done ? I expect you have already tried the cheap quick fixes such as ear plugs and white noise

The baby can't be helped, but I think allowing a dog to bark is down to crap owners who can't be arsed to train said dog.

I have had many dogs, they were all trained not to bark randomly, and never outside.
