To think some trauma is milked, not managed?

Not all pain needs a platform. Sometimes it needs a therapist.

They are not mutually exclusive.

FWIW, it can take years to be ready to go to therapy and untangle trauma. Sometimes, talking about with others (milking it?) is a precursor to that.

Some people are never ready to talk about their trauma with a professional. The idea is too scary, or the work required to get to the good place is too traumatic and would require too much unpacking of things they've spent years trying to keep control of. Unpacking all of that would mean destabilising their MH and likely impacting all of their current responsibilities and relationships.

You're oversimplifying a complex issue.

The suggestion that people talking about trauma outside of a therapeutic session is “milking it” is pretty offensive!

How people deal with their trauma is very personal and I bet they would rather not have the trauma (and the attention I assume your think they’re milking it for)!
