Disturbia81 · 29/06/2025 16:18

Absolutely loads, where else do people store stuff

Christmas decs
halloween decs
suitcases
boxes for moving
baby stuff
boxes of memories
boxes for tv
old clothes
excess decorating stuff like tiles

NancyBellaDonna · 29/06/2025 16:19

The crystal Christmas glasses that we will never use again
Christmas decorations
Travel bags x 2
Decorating tools although I don't intend to do any DIY painting again

2025mustbebetter · 29/06/2025 16:19

Xmas and Halloween decs and suitcases (empty)

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 29/06/2025 16:19

Tools, craft supplies, tinned and packet food, emergency kit - wind up chargers, camping stove, big torches etc, water purification tablets, extra first aid stuff.
Got a filing cabinet up there with some documents in.
A spinning wheel.
Not sure what else.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 29/06/2025 16:20

Oh yes, Christmas decs

NorthernTwang · 29/06/2025 16:24

Just the Christmas decorations and Halloween stuff. There’s 3 or 4 boxes full.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 29/06/2025 16:36

Never been in mine, in the 20+ years I've lived here.

MargaretThursday · 29/06/2025 16:42

Old toys (4-5)
Old clothes that might come in again (3 boxes)
3 pairs of old curtains (children's ones)
Christmas decorations (2 boxes, 1 box of wrapping paper and 2 trees)
Kitchen stuff that the dc can raid when needing it at uni (2 boxes)
Costumes for stage performances (12 boxes)
Dh's old stamp collection (2 boxes)
Suitcases (6)
2 tailor's dummies
2 budgie cages
Dh's old computer shopper magazines that he will never read again and I tell him if the loft collapses it's due to their weight (572,342 boxes, well maybe not quite that number) 🙄

Millers5star · 29/06/2025 16:44

Christmas stuff.
Fans for the summer, extra heaters for the winter.
Boxes for sorting - this is a very slow process.

5foot5 · 29/06/2025 16:46

We have managed to put nothing in so far and we have been here nearly 27 years!

I occasionally have a bout of decluttering what we already have and still have much more to do. I don't want to be one of these old people who can't move for stuff they don't need.

Having said that, I was looking at DHs model railway layout the other day and jokingly saying if he wants to expand it we might need to board out the loft.

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 29/06/2025 16:47

@TheOpalFox absolute garbage¬!!!

Ponoka7 · 29/06/2025 16:53

I had mine boarded out and a proper ladder etc fitted. I decorate seasonally, including bedding, crockery etc. It's all up there. I keep my suitcases with out of season clothes. I keep everything in see through plastic boxes and tidy through it, every few months. I used to have a bigger house and have each room themed for Christmas, so have a lot of decorations, which I give away. I like buying Christmas decorations, so they get replaced. I've got some of my GC toys, I tend to take things off people and pass them to families in need, we have a local homeless shelter. I love a day in my loft, organising it. I've also got bags of clothes ready to go to my GCs school to weigh in.

DilemmaDelilah · 29/06/2025 17:19

Ideally - nothing, because I can't get up there. I do know that we have a couple of spare dining chairs up there, but as we did a BIG loft clear out last year I was under the impression that it was clear of other stuff.... except that a couple of weeks ago DH let slip that there is actually still quite a lot of other stuff up there. So we're going to have to do another big clear out....

So - long story short - I have absolutely NO idea!

zingally · 29/06/2025 17:24

Suitcases and spare bedding. I hide the kids presents in there as well. Really there's very little, mostly because I'm too scared to venture in properly, so everything is only as far as I can reach from from the door!
Luckily, we've got a large garage and a large cupboard under the stairs, so everything else is in plastic crates in one of those areas!

Auburngal · 29/06/2025 17:28

Suitcase
Other season’s duvet
Few boxes
Christmas tree and decs
Christmas jumpers (in those vacuum bags)

My parents had a massive clear out of their loft. Moved almost 13 years ago and finally tackled the countless boxes of photo albums. They had a scrapbook of my birth cards - so so dated. Plus got rid of sleeping bags which were probably used late 90s!

Seagullandclouds · 29/06/2025 17:29

CoastalCalm · 29/06/2025 16:13

Nothing , we had so much in the loft at old house that sat there years and ended up at the tip we decided not to put anything in new house lost - have got racking in garage instead and the stuff sits there instead

Exactly this. So liberating!

ChiefCakeTestertoMaryBerry · 29/06/2025 17:30

Christmas decorations, tree and Halloween stuff
Luggage
memorabilia
Sleeping bags
Tent
Equipment for hobbies that I don’t use very often
Duvets
Spare boxes

PandoraSocks · 29/06/2025 17:31

Sophiehoney · 29/06/2025 16:17

My four blond headed children.

But only until my dad dies

😅

BejewelledCat · 29/06/2025 17:31

Mine is empty apart from the boiler.

sunshineandrain82 · 29/06/2025 17:34

Lego as the kids outgrow them.
Christmas decorations
presents for the kids
random keep sake boxes
paperwork we will keep

i may still have some furniture up there.
my pram is stored up there when we don’t need it (when no babies)

we have some random toy boxes from older ones ready for younger ones.

I have 2 smaller bikes in ours.

its actually just mostly random stuff. We did have a clear out of it recently as we needed to unbury the pram. And found boxes of dvds we forgot we had.

Lavendersong · 29/06/2025 17:35

Loads of crap including Christmas decorations, camping stuff, luggage, random stuff I should chuck out, clothes, toys
I have taken loads to the tip the last few months

we really should put more stuff up there out of the way

Percypigsmom · 29/06/2025 17:35

cluster flies that reappear every bloody year despite being bombed!! So ultimately nothing goes up there!

Mrsttcno1 · 29/06/2025 17:37

Mainly our seasonal decorations, the baby stuff from my daughter to be reused for this baby, and then lots of other things that my husband said could be binned/donated/sold but I didn’t want to let go of, so they go in the loft for 6-12 months and then eventually agree they can go🥲🤣

ReignOfError · 29/06/2025 17:39

Christmas decorations, which are where I can reach them easily. My rucksack, which ditto. And then shedloads of my husband’s shit. I noticed a pair of ski-boots he promised to dispose of when I found them cluttering up the garage (he’s clear he’ll never ski again) have recently sneaked there way up there,

muddyford · 29/06/2025 17:53

Nothing!
