My friends done something like this and she’s papered the ceiling to
it does looks good but she wallpapers herself so it would literally a couple of rolls of paper and a bit of time to redo it
wouldn’t be that brave if you had to pay someone as suspect you’d soon get fed up of it

Paper similar to this massive pattern

We did ours 30 years ago.
It was some sort of green & cream stripe and I loved it.

Personally I'd paint it if the walls are nice enough, as you can touch up/repaint marks, scuffs. If it's not great lining paper then paint.

it's also easier to change colour of you want. Naturally use a silk emulsion paint

There is no reason not to wallpaper a WC. Its just a small room with no steam etc like a bathroom.

But...it cannot be cleaned. This is important if you live with small boys

I think it's more practical to tile the bottom half or two thirds and then put the paper above it.

We chose our WC as our first DIY wallpapering project as less could go wrong (we thought) as it was small. We didn’t think about how much paper it’d take to match a small room with few straight runs & multiple obstacles.
If a professional is doing it you still have to think how it’ll work. A small design may make a small room look smaller, but a big design may mean you have to centralise the bigger parts & work around it. A bit like if you buy wrapping-paper with a large design but then have to wrap something as small as a jewellery box.

RamaSita · 29/06/2025 18:20

Ours has got splashed with water and mud I must say, which hasn't cleaned off entirely. So yes maybe slight regret as it's no longer perfect and can't easily be fixed. PP suggestion of tiling lower part of the wall is clever, v Mediterranean

We have wallpaper in our bathroom. It’s protected with decorators glaze, so it can be wiped clean and is steamproof. So far , 2 years in, it is wearing well, so I’d definitely consider it for a cloakroom.

Defiantly41 · 29/06/2025 22:58

This is ours, didn’t want tiles so this is DIY (Wickes) panelling with Graham & Brown Sugar Fix paint and Nuit Blush wallpaper

What a great idea, thanks for that.

I have wallpaper on the top half & tiles on the bottom in my downstairs toilet a William Morris print been done a while & lasted well.
also half wallpapered the bathroom & protected from steam with a layer of decorators varnish in dead flat finish again been done a few years & looks as good as new.

dontcallmelen · 30/06/2025 08:44

This is mine when i had a harlequin fish wallpaper, the only reason it was redone due to some water damage from the room above.

If I was papering a tiny room it would be bold, loud and expensive paper.
No stripes, they are very 1980's and very very passe.
Id tile half way up and paper the rest including the ceiling.
