To think Oliver Bonas shops look like charity shops

every time I see an Oliver Bonas shop, at first glance I think it’s a charity shop.

i don’t know if it’s the mix of clothes and then random bric a brac, but it always makes me think it’s a charity shop (I love charity shops btw)

You must live in an area with a shit Oliver Bonas. Or great charity shops.

Newfrownlines · 28/06/2025 23:31

First post nailed it 😅

Moveoverdarlin · 28/06/2025 23:31

I disagree. They always look great. And when you go in it’s all quite good quality and pretty pricey. Nothing like a charity shop. £75 sunglasses, £30 for a nice head band.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/06/2025 23:33

Urban Outfitters has that vibe ,
When my DD first dragged me in I thought it looked like a Church Hall sale where someine had pulled out some trestle tables and a few rails ,.

99% of the clothes look like they've been washed/worn
And the "Last Chance To Buy" isn't a SaleRail , it is random hangers on bundled together because there's one piece .

Doesn;t put DD off though she bloody loves it Hmm

BitOutOfPractice · 28/06/2025 23:33

I disagree. But you have to have your right head on to go in there. Two of my favourite outfits of the last 12 months have been from there - neither of them I went looking for.

sparrowflewdown · 28/06/2025 23:38

Haha yes I agree. It's the way it's colour coded and lots of tat brick-a-brack.

Gowlett · 28/06/2025 23:43

Shops used to be beautifully merchandised…
Remember Oasis in Argyll St? Piccadilly Circus?
Even Topshop on Oxford St, with it’s size, was immaculate.
Shops are so uninspiring now… AlL the same!
Tonnes of raggy garments rammed onto rails.
I see wear you’re saying about OB. Used to love it.

EggnogNoggin · 28/06/2025 23:55

I can't get past the mental block of thinking of them as Oliver's Boner.

They are what I imagine middle class Flying Tiger shops would be like.

That’s exactly what i mean! And the window display always seems a bit arty but random: like a charity shop.

this isn’t a criticism: I love a charity shop:
I love finding things that are really random

Not the ones I visit. They're immaculately presented, clean and tidy. Plus they don't have that musty smell that most charity shops do, or bags of stuff on the floor that haven't been put away. My local Oliver Bonas shops are about as far away from charity shops as they come.

CommissarySushi · 29/06/2025 05:50

Agree. Everything in there is always hideous too.

macaronisaidshetlandpony · 29/06/2025 05:52

They have some beautiful things but I feel really overwhelmed when I go in there, due to the layout and bombardment of colour I think. I find it hard to find things in the same way I would in a charity shop.
On another note the charity shops in our small town are so overpriced that they might as well be OB.

Zombiefluff · 29/06/2025 05:54

No I can’t say I’ve ever thought that.

In fairness, they smell much nicer than a charity shop!

I think of that Oasis store often. I was in there every week as a swinging young thing. They used to sell samples there, I lived in their clothes.

ThePoshUns · 29/06/2025 22:25

I can sort of see what you mean OP, they are eclectic.
and god do i miss Oasis stores.

Starchipenterprise · 30/06/2025 17:15

Where on earth is the Oliver Bonas shop you go to then? All the ones I have been in are beautifully laid out and have gorgeous stuff. In fact it’s my favourite shop, but it’s not necessarily for everyone
