Friend told ex where I’m now living

I left a mentally abusive marriage a few years ago. I’ve restarted my life in a different part of the country and I didn’t want him to know I had moved away.

A friend of mine saw him recently. I know he’s still an alcoholic and has mental health issues. She said she was worried about him and decided it was right to tell him where I was living.

She didn’t inform me of this, I just got a message from him saying she had told him and asking if it was true.

I feel betrayed and I don’t think it was right of her telling him. She’s since wrote a message to me with excuses, not even the word sorry mentioned anywhere. I’m heart broken as I trusted her.

I really don’t know where to go from here. I don’t think I can ever be friends again now.

Am I over reacting?

Jeeeez no don't listen to people saying you should rip her a new one etc! You don't know whether she'll share that with him after you block her - and if she does, that'll just confirm she told him the truth.

Block them both without saying anything. Don't deny, don't get into a conversation, just block and try to forget about them. You'll never get the reply you need from either of them and hopefully minimises the risk of it blowing up into something more serious.

I’m not 100% sure if it was just the town name given, he only said the town.

YANBU and shes not your friend

I had similar and he was knocking door to door in the town, he appeared outside the school, (3 schools and he watched one each day waiting to see if that was the school I was doing pick up from) I froze in terror so my friend ran and got the headteacher who came out and also called police. He didn't come back but after 6mth I didn't feel safe and moved again
