To think some people marry for social proof more than love?

It’s less “I found my person” and more “look, I’m not alone.”

It's a forum for open discussion, she can discuss whatever the fuck she likes. Hit a nerve?

What nerve? Of course she can discuss what she likes. I'm just surprised that people give this sort of thing headspace.

Yeah, I know someone who made it a life goal to be married by 30. It’s like he wanted to prove that someone wanted him and saw it as a sign of success. He’d been engaged loads of times but they always split before getting to wedding stage.

I sort of feel sorry for the woman he ended up marrying because I think he just married her for the sake of being married to he honest. He was trying it on with other women within six months of the wedding.

I'll bite - I admit to doing this back in my very early 20's for what was the most stupidest reason of possible reasons. It was the 90's and so many celebs were marrying in haste and I was so influenced at the time 🫣. It was for coolness rather than love and it lasted as long as you would expect - not even a year.

I never married again because I feel like I shat over the sanctity of the whole thing and I'm still embarrassed some almost 30 years later.

The other more tragic reason is that I share my maiden name with my maternal great grandmother 😳 so I wanted to rebel and break the family curse of unmarried women although I never had children. I was so dim.

The vast majority of these “To think…” posts are about things nobody else on the planet gives a half-baked toss about.
As for this one - who cares? Who even has head space for such ennui-inducing mixed up thought?

I don't think there's any headspace given. Most of these 'to think...' posts are just AI farming for content I reckon

Are you married? If so why did you do it?
