5 year old party bags

I’m fed up of plastic tat in party bags, but aware that kids love it. What are your suggestions for fun things for party bags? Age 5, mix of girls and boys.

Books, seeds to plant, a cupcake in a box, colouring books, sticker books, crayons, pencils, colouring pencils, mini craft kits.

We recently got given a book wrapped like a present which went down well and works have some great 10 for £10 offers. We also got a party bag given us from ecopartybag.co.uk which was great. A little plant pot, some soil that expanders in water and a seed bomb, my 5yo was thrilled

We used to do books. 10 for 10 or similar like PP.

I just did party bags for 4-5 year old and did an Ice cream shaped lip balm because lip balm is like currency in nursery, a flat lollipop, small bar of chocolate, little bracelet, stickers and chalk.
I felt like it was a nice balance between a few nice little things but not too tatty.

Books, sweet cones

We did the Crayola Mess free Bluey colouring books for DD’s 6th birthday. We only had 15 guests though. Would be pricey if it’s for a whole class party.

We gave Where's Wally books that we got from Costco (so worked out pretty cheap) and some sweets.

What are you defining as "plastic tat"?
There's a massive difference between a cheap YoYo from a multi pack and a Lego Minifigure.
I pretty much used to do stickers, pencils and Hot Wheels type cars.
The cars were always massively popular.
Don't give seeds unless you know 100% that everyone has somewhere to plant them.
Where I live - we don't.

Give them a book, a packet of seeds, or one of those little peg dolls that you wind wool around.

The kids will be less than thrilled but their parents will poke them to say thank you.

It depends on the type of party but for mine at that age (village hall / bouncy castle party) I sent each child home with a slice of cake, a sweet cone and one of those huge balloons with rubber bands on one end that you slip around your wrist and bash backwards and forwards. I had loads of the balloons ‘loose’ in the hall for the kids to play with and just told them to pick one to take home as they left.

Please no books or plastic stuff.
For generic party bags: sweets, a pencil, a piece of birthday cake
If you have a theme it can make it easier. My DS had a football party and they got a pair of socks too.

One Mum did a painting set. I love that Mum.
