Am I being unreasonable to think that we are becoming more desensitised to violent images without warning

I rejoined X (Twitter) recently to raise an issue with a company, but ended up scrolling through some threads — and I honestly feel quite shaken.
Within seconds I saw graphic images of violence from Gaza, and then full-on porn in the replies to a political post. No warnings, just right there. It was disturbing and totally unexpected.
I’m removing myself from the platform — it’s just not good for my head — but it’s made me think: are we becoming too used to this kind of content? It feels like extreme, shocking posts are everywhere now, and people barely react.
Is anyone else noticing this? I’d love to hear how others are dealing with it — especially with so much news and discussion moving to platforms like this.

I deal with it by getting on with my life. The media will always show images like the ones in Gaza, you can pretty much find these images just by searching for them. Not different to the images of the people jumping in 9/11 or the babies dying of starvation in Africa in the 90s that were shown global in the media. I wouldn’t be arsed about porn, it’s just sex. I think if anything we are becoming a society full of pearl clutchers who want to be blind, avoiding what is really going on in the world. Just because you don’t want to see it, doesn’t mean it’s not happening.

Twitter is the worst for this.

I don't want to trigger anyone but the image is the most graphic and gruesome thing I have ever seen. I can't unsee it and it left me with the shakes. This isn't the normal level of violence that we are seeing in the general media. I think we are all becoming desensitised.

Yes, Twitter is indeed the worst.
