Itching after DtD

Not really an AIBU extent wonder if I’m worrying over nothing. More Health but here for traffic as I’m worried.

I had sex yesterday evening for the first time in ~an embarrassingly long time~ a while. This morning I am itchy down below. Can it be an STI?? So soon? Literally less than 12 hours ago.

I don’t think it was a dryness issue. Could I be allergic to him?! Or could it be just my body adjusting?

No pain or bleeding. Just bastard itching.

I’m assuming you used protection if it’s been a long so it could be reaction to the lube/condom?

donttellmewhaticantdo · 27/06/2025 07:31

Could be thrush. Did you use a condom or lube? I find after using these it affects my Ph balance and causes thrush.

WaltzingWaters · 27/06/2025 07:35

I would guess thrush. Did you pee after DtD? (Can make a big difference in getting thrush or not, although obviously can still get it even if you did). Did you use a condom?

This may seem a strange question, but did you remove your pubic hair before having sex? I had itching after sex on two occasions a while ago, and I eventually figured out it was the WooWoo hair removal cream that triggered thrush.

Thanks. Could thrush present so soon afterwards? I suppose it could be that.

Yes we used a condom, although (sorry if TMI) there was unprotected oral sex both given and received, and he ejaculated outside of the condom (not inside me).

No additional lube used beyond what was on the condom already.

I think i did go to the loo afterwards yes.

I didn’t do anything unusual to my pubic hair, no. Just bikini line neat as normal.

Just thinking though, I perhaps went slightly OTT cleaning my bits in the shower beforehand. Nothing wild, just more of a scrub than normal! Maybe that’s a bit potential reason? Just normal shower gel, just for longer and more vigorous than normal.

Scrubbing your bits with shower gel is a very bad idea and has probably given you thrush.

As a general rule for washing your bits, stand up in the shower with your legs together. Anything that’s visible like that, wash with shower gel. Everything else - eg anything you have to open your legs to access - should be washed with plain water only.

It’s vaguely possible that you’ve had a mild allergic reaction to the latex in the condom or to the lube/spermicide that was on it. But it’s much more likely the shower gel.

I wash with shower gel there every day and have never had Thrush before. The only difference was that I probably washed there more than normal because someone else was about to get close to that area of me. But perhaps that was indeed the cause.
