Lovely @Somemothersdoavem !

I am itching to go into town for some of the Halloween PAB minifigures, wondering when I can swing it.

Anyone going for the new Spiderman minifig series? I'm not a Spidey fan but love a minifig blind bag so likely to buy.

JaceLancs · 27/08/2025 22:35

Starry night was one of our favourite builds! I am enjoying the Trevi fountain though - for some reason I really love the translucent Lego for water effects

MiniFig · 28/08/2025 09:43

i loved making the Starry Night - i got it the day it came out under hilarious circumstances. We were in town meeting a friend, walked past the Lego shop and the set was there. "only for VIP members" and DH said "oh shame" so i whipped out my card and said "but it's expensive, i don't know"

The reply, which i have used against him evermore was: "you're a grown woman who earns her own money..." and that was that. Got the lego Flamingo yesterday using that very argument. He is quite keen on the Neuschwanstein set, but bogglig a bit at the price.

ETA: are the halloween minifigs being sold separately (I'm after 2 skeletons)
I really am not looking forward to the new minifigs. I CBA with spiderman so it feels as though it's a waste of a series (a halloween series would be way better)

I love how you build up the layers, I’m going to do some more at the weekend 😀

Great response from your husband. It’s my 20th wedding anniversary next month, my husband is getting me the pink roses as a present. I had him on that 20 years marriage the gift is plastic!

@MiniFig I think the Halloween minifigs are available at the Pick a Brick / Build a Minifig bit that the larger stores have - Leicester Sq has one, I assume Trafford Centre.

I feel the same about Spiderman series. I wasn’t going to go for them but there’s enough in there that’s cute or interesting so I reckon I’ll be buying. Also I am a sucker for blind bags, though I use a scanning app to cheat and tell me what’s inside.

On that note - finally got this guy today, from Series 26. He was scarce because all the “build a medieval battalion” types bought them up.

Looks like you can buy online @MiniFig . There’s a leg bone just out of shot! Look up “skeleton” on Pick a Brick.

gosh i was so happy i found one of those a few weeks ago in a very out of the way little supermarket. I only scanned the boxes because there were only 3 and the queue was long. 2 of those silly cupids and Wolf Boy!
I'll look online if i can find skeletons. thanks

LegoTherapy · 28/08/2025 20:57

@TheWayTheLightFalls Ds got that one earlier this year. We did the scan thing to find it.

I didn’t see any skeletons at the Trafford centre on Tuesday. Nothing exciting on pick a brick.

Just ordered the Starry Night from John Lewis on impulse. It’s on offer at £119.99. I blame you lot 😆

Troubledwords · 29/08/2025 09:04

I'm confused. So months ago I bought a few polybags online as gifts. However one of the ones I got is the new gwp Harry Potter one.

I saw Smyths are giving it away tomorrow and thought about getting one, but it's the same as I've got already.

I sell polybags as a bit of a side hustle and they seem to circulate pretty freely - we went to Legoland last week and the 3in1 dog was a gift for the kids in the room, even though it has been out for many years and was originally a GWP.

Not sure that’s all of them but the free/small store ones seem to do the rounds.

Oh yes, old ones are great finds, and I thought this was one, but it's now the gwp rather than being one before.

This is all your fault 😂. I was planning to save it to take on holiday in November. Progress to the end of bags 5.

Hi everyone - big Lioness fan and saw Lauren Hemp magnificent Lego creation whilst in tournament and how it helped deal with stress. I am currently buying/selling a house which over the last six months has been very up and down. In the 'down' at the moment as house sale has failed after 6 months. Kinda of knew where this was heading last weekend - brought the Kingfisher kit - really let's you focus without distraction. I can see why people get hooked!

LegoTherapy · 30/08/2025 00:54

I’ve been building the Ninjago city workshops with Ds and got really annoyed with some fiddly bits in bag 9. Bastards wand pieces that I’ve just realised are chopsticks wouldn’t stay put and the designers have used a scarf piece to represent the noodles. I battled with it for about 20 minutes to get it to do what it was supposed to do. No doubt Ds will wake up and tell me I’ve done something wrong. Doing Lego late at night under our rubbish living room light is a recipe for mummy doing it wrong. There’s been some interesting building techniques though and a cool mechanism. I love having a hobby to share with Ds. I hope it provides him with lots of happy memories when he’s older.

I absolutely loved making the kingfisher set, my ancient eyes had trouble with the instructions because of the very dark blue, but the wings had really interesting building techniques.

LegoTherapy · 30/08/2025 10:43

Ds has fixed it. Always does.
strangely September’s new releases don’t excite me although I do like the Arkham Asylum but them it’s a Halloween-y set so I was bound to like it. I’d like Morticia’s cottage when it comes out in October.
The black pearl looks impressive but it’s not one I actually want.
Love the fountain.

I have a real dilemma over where I'm going to put Starry Night now I've started to build it. DD sent home all of her stuff that she had at uni snd has now moved out again without half of her stuff. I have no space. She did leave me half a dozen boxes of deconstructed botanicals though

I planned to put it up on the wall but found it’s too delicate for that. I’ve put it on a shelf instead. I too am running out of space.
