To be worried about my mum's symptoms? Unexplained bloating for a month

Hope it's ok to post on here. Was catching up with my mum today and she said she's been feeling bloated for over a month. She shouldn't be putting on weight - she's been on a diet for the past month (her weight is generally fine but trying to lose some due to being pre-diabetic) and does loads of exercise and eats well. She said her stomach feels a bit tight and stretched for the past month. She's not been eating anything new/different, and has no gassiness or stomach upsets. She's 68. My mind went straight to ovarian cancer and she's booking a GP appointment tomorrow, to ask for both the CA125 blood test and a scan.

I've been googling ovarian cancer and freaking myself out. It seems that most ovarian cancers are diagnosed quite late, at stage 3, and that's why the prognosis is poor. I'm really worried. Can anybody reassure? :(

I think its worth a GP visit to put your mind at rest but you've mentioned she's been on a diet so has she been eating something different? It could be something she isnt used to is causing some irritation
Also, you mentioned she is exercising, again this could be causing her to feel different types of muscles which she isnt used to working

Deffo need to get tests done.
Fingers crossed all is well. Good luck! x

Doctor Google should be struck off, honestly.

It's great she's going to be checked out by a real doctor - one with a medical degree and years of experience. DG will always tell you the worst case scenario. Best see what the real doctor says and take it step by step.

Wish you and your mum all the best.

I have had this too for way more than a few mo ths, it's very annoying and concerning. I hope your mum gets to the bottom of it, as I haven't yet. Had a blood test and a scan but nothing untoward detected so far. But it's very annoying 😑 I will need more tests probably but hopefully your mum will get to the bottom of it.

Just say the tests reveal your mum does have the indicator for ocarian cancer.

My partner had that and had a total abdominal hysterectomy. Twenty one years ago. Completely cured.

I tell you this because your mind inevitably goes to "OMG, it could be cancer!" It could - and they might well successfully cure it.

But it probably isn't!

Thanks for this - this is hopeful. Was it definitely ovarian cancer and not womb/uterine? I thought surgeries for ovarian cancer would remove ovaries/fallopian tubes, not uterus.

Edited

It was definitely ovarian - they found a tumour on it. They took the lot out as a precautionary measure (apparently).
