Wet or dry hair cut?

QueenofGW · 20/06/2025 17:42

I am currently at a new hairdressers getting a colour and cut.
Not sure if it’s relevant I have just below shoulder length fine hair with a few layers.
My colour has just been washed out and the hairdresser said I’ll just blow dry then some one else will cut your hair.
Now I thought it was normal (all except 1 occasion) in my 44 years I have always had my hair cut wet.
Im also worried that the hairdresser coming to cut my hair has not seen it or discussed the style with me when I came in. I thought I was just having 1 hairdresser.
Ive asked for a wet cut (I want it styled and shaped a bit).
My experience is 1 hairdresser, wet cut, blow dry then tidy up with scissors.
Feeling daft sitting here waiting.

I have thick wavy hair. It's cut dry because the results are much better

Frostynoman · 21/06/2025 13:56

I would also be asking for a conditioning treatment as that will help the cut blend

Thank you for the replies I really appreciate it.
I’m not a natural complainer,but I am really annoyed.
just wanted to check I am justified.
I’m so annoyed.
😢

Did she not show you the back of your hair with the mirror.

QueenofGW · 21/06/2025 15:43

Just seen the owner. She wasn’t in yesterday.
She looked at my hair and took full responsibility. Admitted the cut was dreadful.
She apologised and thanked me for going direct to the salon and not putting anything on social media.
She offered to cut and restyle but admitted it would have to go quite short.
Or I could get extensions via a weave also complimentary.
I opted for extensions.
She’s also giving me a free wash cut and blow dry when I want and tightening the extensions in 6 weeks.
I will post a pic in a minute.
I think she handled it perfectly and was lovely.
She also did a great cut on my hair so actually I will be going back to her again.
She was really lovely. I wasn’t angry just showed her my hair and explained how upset I was.

To answer a few questions, it wasn’t an apprentice and no she didn’t show me the back of my hair. Didn’t even pick up on that until some one above asked.
The salon was pretty busy yesterday.

She put a curl into it today as well. But obviously I seen the cut before she did that and she had done a great job.
Thanks everyone.

That looks lovely OP - glad it was all sorted for you

ThisGutsyBalonz · 21/06/2025 17:26

Wow that's a lot of free services

Wow that's a lot of free services

Not really, her hair was awful, a really bad cut,it needed to be rectified and the op needed to be sufficiently happy so as not to leave bad reviews, this way the salon has kept a customer.

Extensions... That's very expensive and I wouldn't expect many hairdresses to offer that.

Snowinsummer · 21/06/2025 19:32

Wow your hair looks beautiful. Glad you got it sorted

Hankunamatata · 21/06/2025 19:40

Glad you got sorted op. It was worth the owners money to rectify it. NI isn't a big place and putting that cut in social media would have really damaged their business

QueenofGW · 21/06/2025 21:54

I know it seems like a lot of free service however my hair would have need to be cut quite a lot to rectify.
Whilst the photos are pretty bad, the actual reality was much much worse.
I never asked for extensions it was an option offered.
I was genuinely really upset and I didn’t go in shouting the odds.
Yes I posted here but anonymously, I think if I’d posted on local social media that would have been very damaging to the business (which I would never have done unless the salon had not rectified the situation).
This morning I would have said I would never step foot in that salon again, and would have spread the word to my social circle.
As things stand now, the salon has not only gained a client but has now got me loving the extensions (which are needed to cover the dreadful cut).
Which also means I will now (having never had extensions before) likely keep on getting them.
I’d say a very clever business lady, who was genuinely apologetic for the rubbish service I had received.
I’ve actually emailed the salon earlier thanking her for her excellent service and for rectifying the awful hair cut. As it genuinely made me incredibly anxious to complain and go back there again.
I decided if I was happy to email a complaint then I should equally email when I am satisfied.

You seem really sensitive, are you ok?

DontTouchRoach · 22/06/2025 09:47

Yay! I’m so pleased they fixed it for you. You handled things really well with your complaint and it sounds like like salon owner was genuinely keen to put things right. It looks great now.

Because it does random things now and again like all tech and I didn't check it before posting.

I'm fine thank you , unlike you who is clearly just looking for an argument, about how someone who had a bad hair cut got it rectified. Have a word with yourself.

I've never had a phone write half a sentence and also I not notice it....
