Discolouration on nose 2 weeks after filler- concerned

Please no judgement for having filler, it's something so many people do.

I've been having nose filler for about 5 years and always very happy with the results.
I went to a reputable practitioner, however I'm concerned as the bruise is still here a fortnight later. Not sure if it's clear from the image but there is still redness on the bridge of the nose and I'm worried it's lasted this long.

Any ideas as to what this could be? I'm going to contact the clinic today too.

I assume before you started using fillers OP you made yourself aware of the possible dangers and side effects ?

Particularly the possible damage associated with long term use of fillers which you embarked on?

Yes you should contact the clinic. Probably seeing your GP might be a sensible option as well.

@Ifeelsick34- you’re going to struggle to get much useful advice on here - Mumsnet don’t like people who have fillers/botox and want to care of themselves.

have you contacted the person who did the procedure? They should be helpful. A small bruise or red mark after a couple of weeks can be normal as it does take a while to settle. I think if you had a vascular occlusion - blockage of blood flow- you would likely know by now (apply pressure to the area and if blood flow doesn’t return normally get urgent help).

if it gets any worse - is painful or spreading contact your GP but I’d give it a few more days and contact the clinic who did the procedure xx

So would I. Is it sore? Does it feel warm?

OCDmama · 20/06/2025 09:28

If this isn't something you've experienced before I'd be a little concerned. Has the bruise changed at all? Got more purple/bigger etc?

I'd contact the clinic but also your GP, in case they try blowing you off.

Is the purpose of the filler to straighten the profile? It has never occurred to me it could be used in that way.
Also does filler not last forever? Why do you have it routinely?

I would suggest it’s definitely a good idea to contact the clinic, suspect gp will be unhelpful but possibly not.

Would icing it help the healing or is that not advisable with fillers?

I think filler lasts forever but it shifts around in the face?!

So it could slide into the under eye? 😱 last thing I’d need

Ignore the people that will jump on you and haven’t a clue so just like to judge.

advanced practitioner here with my own business.

so if that was an occlusion, that can happen with unskilled practitioners injecting into a artery it would usually happen within hours/days of injection but can in rare cases happen later.

usually a sign of a occlusion would be mottling of the skin, as the blood flow is restricted. You will also have slow capillary refill so if u press onto the area firmly and hold for a few seconds when you release does the colour come back straight away or does the whiteness stay/take a while to come back? You would have significant pain in the area and it would feel hot to touch.

do you have any of these signs? If so you may need to go back to have this checked, your practitioner can assess you and dissolve if necessary to reverse any complication. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the advice.
There is no pain in the area at all nor is it hot to touch, I'm just worried that this discoloration is going to be permanent.

Sorry I only just saw this as you didn’t quote me it didn’t flag up. Has it all calmed down now? Filler can take 4 weeks to fully integrate in your body and settle so try not to panic before then. Usually by week 2 tho any issues have gone. On areas with thinner skin such as the nose your more likely to see swelling or discolouration initially xx
