Gallstones - is this usual from the GP?

Hi, I’ve had an ultrasound which confirmed gallstones.

Over the last six months I’ve had 5 or 6 attacks, each lasting 5 to 6 hours, with pain, nausea, vomiting, and so on.
I saw my GP this week for a follow-up after the scan, but she said she wants to do a stool test for H. pylori before doing anything else. She also talked about reflux, which I don’t have, and told me to come back if I’m in pain. It honestly felt like I wasn’t even there.

I told her I have pain in my back every day and can barely eat. I’m living on soup and potatoes!

Is this a normal response from a GP?

I'd say that isn't usual. If the scan confirmed gallstones, you need to have your gallbladder out and they should refer you.

It's possible to have H Pylori and gallstones, so worth doing the H Pylori test as well, but you would still need your gallbladder removing anyway.

Usually they get you to do the H Pylori test before you get sent for a scan, not after.

I can't say about the GP but I presented myself to A and E when I turned bright yellow, like a banana, even my eyes. I didn't have pain which was a box I think they needed to tick, I was in for a week before I had a scan for gallstones which was the cause. They thought it was alcohol related but I don't drink! I had everything removed a few months later. I would suggest A and E as it is an emergency, you shouldn't have to put up with pain for hours, you need the ops to remove kidney stones and bladder.
