New medication side effects help!

Posting here for traffic, sorry!

I was prescribed pregabalin twice a day, yesterday, i took a dose before bed and another dose this morning, 75mg.

Im off my face, literally high as a kite, i feel like im floating, i cant see properly, i cant focus, im starting something then totally forgetting what im doing distracted by nothing.

I understand the spacey feeling was a possible side effect, i didnt expect it to be this intense though. my eyes are pin prick i look off my face!

Ive got to take my daughter to the hairdressers in 3 hours, i cant drive so can get a taxi, but theyre going think im on drugs, which i kind of am, but illegal ones! We cant not go! Its for her prom hair, then, i have to do her make up! Shes going to look ridiculous.

So my question, has anyone taken this and can tell me it will have worn off by 2pm and i have to take her to get her hair done, and all the other prom prep! Cos i cant do it when im high as a kite floating with the fairies!

Just to mention, my kids at 22 18 and 16, 2 are at work, just the youngest here, so im not responisible for any small children in my current drugged up state.

Its taken me 20 minutes to type this out, i apologise for any remaining typos.

@maliafawn Look at my user name. Guess what colouring I have? I think her dress is beautiful and don't let anybody tell you any different!

And on to Round Two: The make up. We're all behind you here OP.

What I mean is, you might get a few unfortunate souls with no self esteem, castigatiging you for buying a dress from Shein. I'm here to pre-empt this.

Mumsnet can be a bit snobby at times.

@maliafawn I see that you've asked for the picture of your daughter's dress to be removed. Now that's a sad thing to have to happen but I have learned from experience that to give too much away on here is a mistake.

I shouldn't have asked. I'm sorry. It was a genuine interest on my part but looking at the "Style and Beauty" section of this website has taught me that some people on here can be vicious.

You should have got her a second hand sack from Vinted that smelled of somebody's else's sweaty armpits by (some of their) thinking. Thus making your daughter cry, you cry and me cry.

On to the prom!

Its fine, it was only up for a short period.

I did her make up and she looked amazing! I sent a very happy girl off to her prom for one last night with all her school friends. And im now fully recovered for the medication

All's well that ends well!

Are you going to risk taking your night time dose again? Or just leave it?

Redheadedstepchild · 19/06/2025 20:57

@maliafawn I bet you're looking at that capsule in the pill packet like an unexploded nuclear bomb.

sparklychair · 19/06/2025 23:18

You could ring 111 for advice, perhaps?
Side effects can be very odd - years back I was given drops to dilate my eyes for an examination - for 48 hours, on and off, I had nightmarish hallucinations, it was horrible.
