So I watched the Piper Rockelle documentary and went down a whole rabbit hole about content creators....
For those who don't know The Bop House is a group of "barely legal" OF creators who ostensibly live in a house together and churn out huge amounts of content. They have millions of followers and make serious serious money. There are other similar pages doing the same thing.
I find porn in general problematic anyway but what really troubles me about this model is the Tiktok to OF funnel... On their public facing channels like Insta, The Bop House and other similar brands deliberately create content similar to current Tiktok/Insta trends. The girls wear skin tight pastels, plaits, sometimes their PJs. It's got the vibe of an all girls sleepover. The girls have "characters" like in a reality show and little feuds/story arcs.
Piper R, who started off at a child Youtuber, is only 17 but already cropping up in their Insta stuff, so it's obvious what's going to happen to her.
I feel like girls are more vulnerable than ever to getting sucked into this sort of thing. It all looks so "fun" and they introduce the new "bops" with a big fanfare like it's a huge honour to be chosen. And at 18 you might think it's a fantastic idea way of making money but in reality most normal people make little for OF and their pictures are out there forever. 18 just feels SO YOUNG to be making decisions that permanent.
Then on the other hand, perhaps the creators have a bit more autonomy than they would previously have had? I suspect they all have management agencies and stuff.
Anyway, just wondering. What do others think?
