Is mediation going to help?

Posting for traffic.

Exdp works a 3 week rotating shift pattern, he currently has a different schedule for each of the 3 weeks, which suits him but not myself. Due to lack of childcare im limited to working school hours. I want a set schedule the same days/times every week minimum but ideally id prefer 50/50 week here then week there. He currently pays below cms calculator rates but claims this is because he offers to pay for half of uniforms/trips etc when necessary instead of their minimum. Broached the subject again tonight's of getting a better balance example 4 days there then 4 days here, no can do. Cannot offer set days and times because of his shifts. He could increase weekly payment but withdraws paying half of extras. Ive said id rather no money and he had a fixed schedule but hes refusing. Is there anyway mediation could resolve this?

If he's not willing to have the children more often, then I don't think mediation would make much difference. Would you be financially better off claiming CMS? If so, I'd do that.

Yes i imagine i would be, hes asked me not to do this though as they base their calculations off last tax year and his earnings this year will be much lower and he wont be able to afford that. Im not sure how they work things out.
