Is it normal to feel this homesick?

I have always been a home bird and I love to get back to my home everyday even though I am travelling for work to different cities even when my colleagues are staying overnight at hotels and they have a party, I just come back home on 3 hours each way train rides. I always look forward to seeing my husband and DC who are a toddler and baby.
I can remember for when I was little that I absolutely enjoyed being at home. Even now in my 30s, I just want to be back home.
I have come to New York to see family but I keep missing my home in the UK. I have got my DC along but DH is in UK. It's been 2 weeks and I am so homesick, the trip is for a month.
Even when I go on holiday for 7 days, I start missing home after 4 days and look forward to going back.
My DH thinks I am being dramatic but honestly I miss my home so much even though I might be absolutely loving my holiday and enjoying my time. Has anyone else felt this way or is it just me!

It seems deeply limiting to me, but you do you. I’m assuming you’re not someone who moves area or country a lot?

One of my children was similar to the OP from childhood - taking it to the same extreme degree and not being able to live in the moment and enjoy the time away because of a longing to get home.

It wasn't entirely a surprise when he was diagnosed with ASD in his teens.

I'm not OP but moving is completely different to me. Then I just take my home comforts with me and it's still a home. I have lived in 5 countries and 19 different homes in the last 30 years so that isn't a problem for me. I have travelled extensively but now that I'm older I'm just getting more comfortable I suspect.

I get homesick too. I went on a guide camp when I was 12 and that was the start of it. I love holidays but I'm always homesick and can’t wait to get home
