Naked bike ride

Was in London yesterday: naked bike ride. Fine.. not my thing (or many other women). They finished the ride/protest/whatvever and then conjugated near B palace.. and just seemed to be happy wafting their micro penis’s about for kicks and giggles/

A lot of horrid middle aged naked men kicking about just felt unnecessary.

and 🤮

More fool them, quite honestly. I imagine most of them were young and perhaps naiive about the world. Doubt there were middle aged women in the same proportions as middle aged men there.

When my sister did it, in her late 30s (from what I remember) I think she cycled with a sizeable cohort of older women whom she said were great fun. I think a lot of them knew one another from local campaigning for cycle paths.

BundleBoogie · 16/06/2025 12:52

SecondWoman · 16/06/2025 12:48

Well, they’re cycling harmlessly with other cyclists, often wearing body paint, in an organised annual cycle organised with the knowledge and permission of the police and local authorities, mostly being laughed at honked at by passersby, rather than flashing their genitals at passing schoolgirls?

So you have no way of telling what their motivations are. Thanks for confirming.

You do know that some men are quite adept at hiding their intentions? Especially when it comes to sexual matters.

SecondWoman · 16/06/2025 12:54

SupportivePantsAndHusband · 16/06/2025 12:51

Exactly. They think they're being part of something worthwhile when it's just a kink for these old pervs. When will young women learn?! Say anything and you're an old jealous witch 🙄🙄🙄

Why not let other women make their own decisions without invalidating them by claiming to know better?

If my sister says it was a fun, liberating thing to do to cycle through the city centre wearing nothing but a thong and body glitter, why wouldn’t I accept that this was how she experienced it? Rather than telling her she’s wrong, because what she was actually doing was providing wankfodder for pervs?

Americano75 · 16/06/2025 12:56

I'm not a fan, I don't know if it's because I was flashed as a child but the thought of seeing nakedness in public makes me anxious.

What a crock of shit

Men just living their lives are not dominating the world, intimidating or forcing themselves into your vision

Men just living their lives are not dominating the world, intimidating or forcing themselves into your vision

tbf - riding around London naked in a large group goes above and beyond “men just living their lives”.

Why can they not do this in more private places where it would definitely not cause any distress or be an issue as we can’t see them?

DoctorRoseReturns · 16/06/2025 12:57

CautiousLurker01 · 16/06/2025 12:21

Now you’re being disingenuous! Indecent exposure is an offence under the 2003 Sexual offences Act (and was covered by other legislation prior to this).

Shop lifting is also a criminal offence… whether the police arrest you is an arbitrary thing these days, isn’t it? They SHOULD have been arrested but I can imagine that the practicalities of handcuffing, charging, containing 1000 naked individuals in cells was a bit of a deterrent. Not an excuse, of course.

Indecent exposure is just exposure in English law and they weren't committing it

Police were well aware of the event and simply set guidance because it wasn't illegal

How on earth would I know anyone else’s motivation for anything? People go to Coldplay concerts. I assume they enjoy them. I don’t understand it myself, but accept that there probably isn’t a twisted hidden agenda. Occam’scrazor.

It becomes illegal if it ‘causes alarm or distress to others’… clearly it did.

No it doesn't, it has to be proven that they intended to cause alarm or distress.

Plenty of times TV and Movies will have naked bodies without you "expecting" them

It's caught me out often when watching with family when I was younger and embarrassed seeing naked people on front of my parents

I've also accidentally stopped a show and switched back to the TV to find its a naked body (normally having watched Taskmaster or similar on C4 and then Naked Attraction has come on whilst I was watching a recording)

Judgy, body shaming comments can gtfo

The ‘body shaming comment’ was my gender dysphoric distressed DD’s expression of her distaste. Interesting that you are willing to police and condemn the opinion and reaction of a vulnerable young woman but not the exhibitionism of group of mainly naked men (80% were men from the group we witnessed). And as the owner of a pale, wrinkly, wobbly older body I have no issues with accepting the physical reality of my body or the way it may be perceived by others. If my feelings are hurt, that a me problem.

My adolescent daughters stumbled across this a few years ago at a junction in London. Queue them laughing their heads off and taking many photos to regale their friends with... also with much laughter.
Aren't people laughing at these people more than anything else?

They’re riding bikes, naked, in London. What on earth makes you think they were aiming for solemn dignity?

Is there a way of telling what the motivations of the men in this event are?

Do you have a way of seeing into people's heads to work out their motivations BundleBoogie?

And flashing or indecent exposure is a form of sexual violence so they typically show their erect penis and possibly masturbate. Bit tricky when on a bike.

There was a whole range of ages

Stop infantilising women and acting like they can't make decisions

That is why there are mandatory content warnings in programmes and a 9pm watershed. The intention is that we shouldn’t have to view these things if we don’t want to.

The fact that some people like that man with boobs stripped off and played the piano with his penis on live tv with no warning are celebrated and not censored is not a good thing and not a positive direction for society to take.

This is my point. I’m glad you understood.

Are you suggesting that the absence of an obvious erection or masturbating in the moment means that a man’s intentions are totally non sexual? Are you confident that no man at this event had an erection at any point?

You may have quite a naive view of how some men operate. Perverts don’t tend to announce themselves and their intentions.

It’s not very nice. I don’t wish to see another persons naked body without my consent. But as on ever on Mumsnet it’s a race to the bottom (lol) to seem the most “cool girl.”

Cool girl lol

Utter rubbish!

This is my point. All the people on here confidently asserting that these men have no intention to cause distress have literally zero proof of that.

Obviously we have no proof that they DO intend to cause distress but their actions very much create a situation where distress is a strongly possible outcome.

Funny how some people on this thread are very keen to accommodate men who may or may not have nefarious intentions for wanting to be naked but have zero consideration for the women and young girl who have actually expressed distress on this thread for very good reasons. The conditioning to put the wishes of men first clearly runs deep.

Fwiw I have no idea how many men get their penises out at Coldplay concerts so I can’t comment on your comparison. I don’t think you can compare going to a Coldplay concerts with being naked in public.

I assume you know what the watershed is…so if you keep watching, you should reasonably know you might see a naked body or hear a swear word or violence etc etc. I’d expect all those things after 9pm in the UK.
