To think I have the stupidest feet EVER

My feet roll inwards due to over pronation, and I walk like a sad, old duck. I have to wear orthotics or else I'll end up with foot pain and would look even more like a constipated duck waddling along. People comment on my "distinctive walk" It seems I also curl my toes when walking so have "traumatised" my toe nails. Oh, and I have bunions.

All of the above make summer shoe wearing tricky. However, nature has decided that waddling, sore toes and bunions are simply not enough and has added contact dermatitis to the mix. Heat, sweat and friction cause an itchy rash to spring up exactly where shoes have been in contact with feet. So then I'm an itchy, waddling sad old duck.

I have no issues with socks plus leather trainers, so I live in those year round. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyone else have stoopid feet? 🦆 😩

Owch, I don't have this but it sounds painful. Over pronation can be hard on the knees - have you had knee pain?
I never wear summer shoes either. Its socks and trainers year round for me too. I like other people in summer shoes, but I hate the look of my own feet! Feel so naked with them on display haha. Sports socks and sliders is as far as I'll go.
My husband has over pronation in one foot due to a bad fracture in his youth, and it affects his gait. But I think its quite charming.
Though he often bangs that foot into furniture etc the poor thing! Because he steps kind of outward with it.
I mean I really fancy him and the gait is just part of that I guess.
Sorry - I realise this reply offers no advice. But sending solidarity!
Always wish I had pretty feet but I'd probably still hide them away 😄

For the past 1-2 years I’ve had recurrent pain and fractures caused by bone tumours in my feet and toes bones. I haven’t been able to walk at all or as much, or have needed walking boots through to medical boots to do so. Also had lifelong sensitive skin inc contact dermatitis - lucky me!

Now i just prioritise my own health with proper shoes and cotton clothes. You’ve probably already researched it but more breathable fabrics, non-synthetics, non-chromium leathers etc can all make a difference and if at all possible airing feet or changing shoes throughout the day might help practically. I wonder if chiropodist and physio or other exercises can support, particularly after bunion surgery if you’re at that stage?

I’m sure I don’t look too fashionable but it’s just a joy to be able to be out and about following my latest rounds of surgery (hoping to eventually be in sandals later this summer where my many new scars will somewhat proudly be on display). Stupid but functional feet for the win!
