Can any gardeners recommend a suitable kitchen hope pipe please?

I have moved into a brand new house after leaving my abusive ex and I am starting over again.

My ex had a reel attached to the garage wall so I have no idea what hose to buy.

Anyway I have began gardening again but I am struggling to find a suitable hose pipe that I can fit using my kitchen tap.

Any suggestions please?
I did buy one from Argos but it didn’t fit the tap, think it was the McGregor one?
I have looked on Amazon but I don’t know what connector I would require.

Thanks in advance xx

Post a picture of your kitchen tap.

It's not the house that matters, but the connectors. There are different connectors that will fit different toes of taps.

Depends on the tap, I got mine from wickes in the end. Not sure on brand but its yellow

It’s not your hose- get an adapter like this

Can you afford to have an outside tap fitted? The plumber would also be able to advise you on a hose.

Hi I do have an outside tap but I have a front and back garden and think it would be easier to connect from the kitchen.

It is almost always easier to connect from the outside tap, as that is what the majority of connectors are made for.

Do you have a hardware store you can get to? If you take a photo of the tap, a staff member will tell you what connectors you need. Then buy whatever length of hose you need. It can be easier to have it on a reel, you don't necessarily have to fit the reel on the wall, ours sits on the ground.

You can get adapters to fit that style of kitchen tap, but it is much better to use the outside tap. The outside tap is fixed to the masonry and is very rigid and it can take the tug of a hose, most of which will be resting on the ground. The kitchen tap is not nearly as rigid, and there will be a long length of house hanging from it before its weight is supported by the ground, so it may not take the tug of the hose.

I find hoses leak slightly regardless of the connector or tap so I would not go back to attaching one to my sink - gets messy!

I use a flexible hose from Hoselock, I have two actually, one for the back using an outside tap and one for the front using a tap in the garage. I find them lighter and easier to tidy away, I just loosely loop the hose around the tap but you can buy reels that fit on the wall.

If you choose this type, get a good quality make as I found that cheaper ones rip easily. Also they really need to be stored indoor in the winter.

I only use my hose to water my numerous pots, I never water the grass or flower beds as I am on a water meter. I might water my hydrangeas in an extended heatwave though!

@Ihateslugsthank you.
Which Hoselock one would you recommend please?

I will probably just connect to my back garden tap as I don’t want loads of water in my kitchen in case there is a leak lol.

Is the connector universal and compatible with back garden taps?

Many thanks x
