I Had this when I had my wisdom tooth extracted. I deliberately dislodged it as I thought it was an infection. Worst mistake ever- I ended up with dry rot - and the pain was the worst I’ve ever had. I ended up at the emergency dentist, crying in pain. Please don’t dislodge it- I was told it was part of the healing process and I should have left it. Maybe ask your dentist to have a look if you’re worried. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

It looks like just the wound healing to me - I’ve had many teeth removed including a complex wisdom tooth. I think as long as any pain isn’t suddenly getting much worse it is probably fine. Keep up the salt water rinses.

Looks OK. The socket should form a clot and that’s normal. If you dislodge it you risk getting a dry socket which is v painful. So leave the clot be and don’t try to remove it.

Looks like the clot is developing - this makes the new gum over the hole.

Kirsti1980, you mean a dry socket, dry rot is for timber. I've had 2 ,back double teeth, last one was 18th December one year, then Christmas and New year, there wasn't even an emergency dentist open. I followed the post op instructions to the letter. A friend at work had one and ended up on morphine.

Looks perfectly fine to me. Keep eating on the opposite side, and rinse with salty water or a mouthwash your dentist might have recommended. Mine looked quite similar. It was painful for a good while and pain eased each day but I needed painkillers for nearly a week.

Don't poke or prod at it, the it's a funny thing with gum healing that it looks pretty awful but is perfectly fine.

It’s probably granulation tissue which is the normal healing process. Do your best not to disturb this tissue and avoid brushing over it. If it was a dry socket it would be painful. I’m not a dentist, just someone who’s had a few molar extractions over the past couple of years.

Had a wisdom tooth removed a few weeks ago amd have at several points been worried in was infected, it wasn't. That's what it looks like, don't think yours is. Do you feel unwell/have a temperature etc?

Hi mums.
so I’ve had a drink of fizzy orange before after having my teeth extracted on Tuesday and as I accidentally swilled it I don’t know why I did it sounds stupid it felt like really uncomfortable on that side and feels like I can’t swallow properly since I’ve done it. I don’t know what I’ve done it’s my first time having 3 teeth removed and just worrying at the slightest thing
