Soy/Soya - free from formula.

Firstly is soy and soya the same thing?

Secondly is there such a thing as a soya/soy free baby formula?

Suspect DC has a allergy and want to trail a soy free diet after the CMPA diet hasn't helped. (GP suspected a milk allergy)

Waiting to speak with hospital about DC but want to help ASAP as its getting ridiculous and DC is poorly with it.

Yes - soy and soya are (for this purpose) the same thing.
Yes - there are soy/soya free formulas. However, they tend to be expensive and in short supply. They are often shoplifted too, which means they're even more expensive and in even shorter supply.
You can sometimes get a prescription (which helps with the cost) but even pharmacies are in short supply and (to stop the risk of people selling it on) many won't allow you more than one tin at a time which can be a pain.
I can't personally recommend a specific brand of soy-free formula as I never used it.

I do not want to sound like I am preaching, I'm just providing a viable alternative, there are several exchange sites where you can buy or get free donations of breastmilk from women who have an oversupply - you may be able to get soy-free milk from there with a better/longer-term supply and cheaper.

I have a DD with soy allergy and CMPA so I feel your struggle!

This is going back a while but my baby with CMPA (in the US it's called MSPI, milk-soy protein allergy, which is more accurate IMO as the two are linked) needed the hydrolysed formula.

Im not entirely sure what we had now cos it was 10 years ago, but ds was allergic to cows milk and he was prescribed from the doctor completely milk free formula

Yes we've tried the cows milk free formula but it still has soya in it - the reaction changed slightly but then worsened.

I am going to call and discuss with GP while waiting to speak to team at hospital but want to go armed with information.

What milk have you tried? My LO tried pepti one and nutramigen, both extensively hydrolysed. Nutramigen is soya based. With both formulas symptoms got better then it got worse, hundred times worse. Then we moved onto neocate and things just got better and better. Neocate is completely dairy free.

My baby was CMPA and soy made his allergies worse too. I kept BFing him til 9 months on a DF diet and then switched him to oat milk (with GP approval.) it was hard. He wouldn't drink any of the prescription formulas.
