I am eldest of three sisters. No drip feed,I have always been the problem solver and literally support human being for the other two. Middle sister A is on work visa, youngest B is on graduate visa, expiring next feb, her current job ends on August. Most probably she will have to leave UK as there's no hope on hell that she will secure a sponsored job with 38k salary.A is pretty upset about this so we thought let's go on a trip to Spain as B hasn't been to Europe at all, to have something to remember etc. Now I had booked easyjet holiday on feb 29th, flight is next Wednesday. Guess when B applied for schengen visa? May 19th. A has applied 1st week of May and got her visa last week.We are both freaking out and there's no response from B. She is a procrastinating champion and pretty sure herself that she got ADHD. First it was weeks of oh there's no visa appointments, then it was oh when I get one online I can't complete as I didn't have all.my paperwork...all the while she knew from reddit forum exactly what was happening at BLS processing center. The whole point of this holiday was to go as 3 sisters .Sister A is going to moan if just two of us go on the trip, and how are we going to recover B's portion of the cost? A and B has joint travel insurance but I don't think this situation is covered. A might say oh B is lower earner so lets absorb the cost .A had already proposed that we cover her spending money once we are there.AIBU to tell B that I don't want to be out of pocket due to her lazyness and tell A to accept we can't subsidise another adult?

You lost me

One question though… how old are you all?

Wakeywakey678 · 12/06/2025 07:30

Yanbu. It's her own foolishness that she won't make the flight, so she needs to still pay her place. I'm really sorry 😔

itsgettingweird · 12/06/2025 07:31

If B is considered able enough to live and work in a foreign country she’s plenty old enough to sort a visa and the finances around her cock ups.

Sleepynose · 12/06/2025 07:53

so you all thought sensible to arrange a holiday. You don’t think she might be a teeny bit worried about money?

SavageGarden23 · 12/06/2025 08:14

@Sleepynose We didn't dump this on her out of the blue. She can afford this and has been consulted at every step,we chose the cheapest options so that her share is not too much.she has no money worries as parents have given her a substantial amount and will be subsidised whichever part of the world she lands on next.

Doesn’t sound like the three of you were close enough to be going on holiday together anyway!

How old are you all?

cakeisallyouneed · 12/06/2025 08:45

You say that B has the money for the holiday and has a large sum from parents? She agreed to the holiday so if she becomes unable to go she should pay her share. If she hasn’t already paid you, get the money now as if she doesn’t end up going you’ll struggle to get her to pay. But learn from this. You already knew to expect this sort of thing yet continued to organise the holiday.

I think she meant she booked it in Feb this year, but they are travelling on Wednesday.

There was no February 29th this year.

Dbank · 12/06/2025 09:32

Let "B" know she's already in Europe....

purplecorkheart · 12/06/2025 09:36

This is not covered by Insurance. I don't see why you should cover B's share. She had plenty of opportunity to apply for her visa. If A wants to cover B's share then let her, you do not have to.

I do wonder does B actually want to go on the trip.

I can read. But there's no Feb 29th this year. Seems an odd error to make.

* she is the procrastinating champion*

”pretty sure” she has ADHD

Perhaps she feels like her sisters thinks she’s pretty useless and no hope of getting the kind of job she wants.

This doesn’t sound like a holiday of three close sisters, but the eldest thinks she’s the only one capable of anything and rams it down their throats.
