My DS had an accident at nursery which was quite bad. He tripped over a toy, landed and hit his head on the side of a big easel and bit down on his lip causing a big chunk of lip to be bitten off and lots of bleeding. I have since found out he was in a room with 3 members of staff all unqualified and I believe unqualified staff shouldn't be alone with the children without a qualified member of staff.

Sorry, apprentices and one just being a member of staff who covers lunches etc but has no childcare qualification

Like most parents then when a kid trips over something and hurts themselves? By the sounds of it was just a simple accident. How would qualifications stop the child from tripping?

Well it might make them better equipped to notice hazards in the room (a chair pushed out to be tripped over, a large toy not tidied away when children are running, a cupboard door left ajar to bang into, and then newer less qualified staff not keeping an eye sufficiently on whether children are following the rules of the nursery (walking feet inside, tidy up time etc) of course common sense prevails whether you’re formally qualified or not but the point of having qualified staff in charge of the room is to oversee the running of things, have the confidence to keep things calm when children are getting unruly, and ensure preventable injuries can be mitigated as much as possible. I’d want to know what sort of set up was in place at the time of the accident and if in fact it may not have been something that was totally unavoidable.

You sound as though you're looking to stir up trouble... Perhaps a little compensation claim on the side if you can get Ofsted to find fault eh?

If your kid tripped and fell at the park would you think it fair if Social Services turned up at your house the next day.

Don't do to others what you wouldn't do to yourself.

And from what I understand nursery places aren't the easiest to find so maybe think twice as nursery owners may decide to call it a day.

Lol I could notice a trip hazard, put it away and one of the kids get something else out that could be tripped over. That was with 2 small kids so sure it can happen with 20 odd there.

it all depends do you think the nursery is
unsafe generally are more accidents and maybe more serious ones are likely ? Are they listening to your concerns and taking them seriously ?

reporting them with cause upset and strained relationships so are you planning on removing him to new nursery ?

id report and remove my son if I felt it was a dangerous nursery and whistle blowing was necessary otherwise simply have a chat and hopefully get reassurance
