To want a different midwife next time?

I vividly remember turning up to an appointment at 9 weeks in tears. I was so stressed as I had previously had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks and was finding it hard to get through the days. Midwife who was taking my history, said "I've written 'abortion' because that's what we call it, so don't worry about it"....

The correct technical term is 'spontaneous abortion', but she was incredibly tactless to say this to you. I'm not surprised you want to see someone else.

When I had my first (7 years ago) there was a code on the form for the number of miscarriages (abortions) OR abortions (terminations) you had had, followed by a slash and the number of live births.

So, being heartbroken about my 3 miscarriages, I had to see 3/0 written on my form and know that people might think I had had three terminations. Was very and .

I was very pleased to see this has now changed, when I had DS2 last year.

I agree it is upsetting, but to a medical professional what we call a miscarriage is an abortion and what we call an abortion is a termination. A medical professional would read what the mw had put on your form and KNOW you had a miscarriage, not a termination.
