Would you judge if someone gave your child an Amazon present in just the Amazon gift bag and no card

Guilty as charged !

and I noticed all the parents that give gifts to my kids, wrap them and use gift bags, plus a card.

I can barely get it together to buy a gift as it is and to not forget to attend the birthday. Let alone going through all that attention to detail. I also hate wrapping presents in general and I don’t do cards- in general. Sometimes I manage to do a card, but not that often.

would you judge if you just received ( a nice ) gift in an Amazon gift bag?

small kids, so they can’t do it themselves.

Not at all

SchoolDilemma17 · 07/06/2025 13:25

I wouldn’t. How do they know it’s from you without a card?

Ninkynonkpinkyponks · 07/06/2025 13:25

Cards are a waste of money IMo

Stopitbella · 07/06/2025 13:25

Of course not! I’d just be bloody grateful that they took the time and spent the money on getting my child a present. I honestly wouldn’t give it a second thought.

Wrapping paper and cards just go in the recycling anyway.

Overthebow · 07/06/2025 13:25

I wouldn’t judge, but isn’t the card the bit kids like giving? My dd loves writing the birthday child’s name and her name in the card and decorating it.

craxer · 07/06/2025 13:25

It has a tag on it from already which says Happy birthday, love from James.

No, no judgment here. Anyone who objects to the wrapping, or lack of it, doesn’t deserve the present.

Sosocold · 07/06/2025 13:27

Absolutely no judgement from me!

I do sometimes do the card, but more for my older one. Not for the youngest as he can’t write his name yet. Sometimes my DD draws a picture for her friend for example, rather than a card. Which is also cute.

It's a bit lazy and not very celebratory. I'd be ok with you wrapping the package and not the item. I'm not bothered about cards, but the child might be.

Get yourself some gender neutral wrapping paper and a box of generic children's birthday cards from the local pound shop. It's not that much of a chore.

Groundhogday2025 · 07/06/2025 13:28

Factor in birthdays every other week at that age and who has time for more than that. Anyone who judges has too much time on their hands if you ask me.

IfIDid · 07/06/2025 13:28

This is the second thread about this in two days! (On the other one, the OP was outraged at the lack of gift wrapping…)

No, of course not, OP. A present is a lovely thing.

BlueMum16 · 07/06/2025 13:28

I don't judge any gifts given to my DC. I teach DC to say Thank You for everything received.

craxer · 07/06/2025 13:29

Oh I’m so glad, because I noticed at a recent birthday how much care the other parents took over it. Which was super sweet. I do take care of it too. I think I get good presents but I’m just not wrapping them. Sometimes I use a gift bag, with the Amazon gift bag inside.

Omg really ! Last year I transferred a mum 40 pounds 😂😂 she’d also given me cash for my DD birthday, so we laughed about how we are on the same page… it was obviously a bit weird. I wouldn’t do that with other kids but I knew this mum would be fine with it..

No
or is they gave them an Amazon card to spend

it’s kind a present has been given

Screamingabdabz · 07/06/2025 13:31

Seems that people always have the energy for excuses as to why they cba for other people’s birthdays. But as long as people bothered to buy and write nice cards for your kid eh?

AliceTheBat · 07/06/2025 13:39

Do you mean the fabric ones with the ribbon?

I think they're fine - I usually keep them if I receive them and re-use them. Ditto any other gift bags I receive.

I wouldn't judge anyone who was nice enough to give me a present.

jimbort · 07/06/2025 13:41

No, I’d be more likely to warm to you as I’m similar with not wasting paper and time poor

Blobbitymacblob · 07/06/2025 13:44

I like the whole faff of wrapping gifts really well. It’s something that gives me a lot of pleasure to do. I’m not great at choosing gifts so the pleasure might be all on the outside, I don’t judge what other people do or don’t do.

Ime, girls take over the card writing, then card making, then wrapping and finally buying of gifts. Boys take no interest in any of it. The art work and calligraphy on teenage dd’s recent birthday cards were stunning. Thoughtful, personalised gifts come artfully arranged in presentation baskets. The standard of signature legibility on ds’ cards didn’t vary from ages 4-10 and nothing was ever wrapped or signed after that.

purpleme12 · 07/06/2025 13:46

I wouldn't judge

Because nowadays I find a lot of people don't wrap and just put in the gift bag

However for me personally I think all presents should be wrapped. That's half the excitement

I always wrap presents. If someone gives me a present or sends one for my child before the date then I'll always wrap it if it isn't already

Eldermileniummam · 07/06/2025 13:47

I think it's fine OP

cyvguhb · 07/06/2025 13:54

What's an Amazon gift bag? Is it something you pay for in addition to whatever you've bought?

I'm not a fan of Amazon so would rather not have the gift tbh but i know that the mn demographic has an aversion to shops so probably not a popular opinion

It’s a little bag, hard to explain. It’s not particularly pretty, but it’s a gift bag.

I have zero time to go to a shop or supermarket, ever.
