Started a new job that I hate and have been offered an interview

I’m in a bit of a dilemma and could really use some advice. I recently started a new job after a period of unemployment. I knew from the start it wasn’t an ideal fit, but at the time I was quite desperate and felt I needed to accept something.

Now, just one week into this new role, I’ve been offered an interview for a much more suitable position. The problem is, I have no idea how to attend this interview without raising red flags. Taking a sick day this early feels wrong and I feel it won't reflect well but I also don’t want to miss out on what could be a much better opportunity.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? How do I attend an interview when I'm still onboarding in a new role which requires numerous meetings a day. Any advice appreciated!

I know its hard to answer but how likely would it be that you will get the other job. If its almost certain then it doesn't really matter what excuse you come up with but if very unlikely then you need ro come up with a foolproof excuse..

Don't think this is that uncommon actually. People often have, applied for a few jobs and explored opportunities when they start a new job, so its not unusual if other interviews and opportunities come up. I've certainly worked in places where ppl have started jobs and then left only to find out later that they has another job in the pipeline..
