To think parenting isn’t the hardest job in the world?

It’s emotionally intense, yes, but we need to stop pretending it’s the same as, say, a nurse doing back-to-back night shifts.

The thing is, my actual job is pretty hard sometimes but I trained for it and I can change employer or even choose a different job if I am not enjoying it enough.

Some bits of parenting are great, but some bits I'm just terrible at or find really hard or awful. I still have to do all the bits and carry on, even though the worst bits. Even when my DC is messing around at bedtime and I lose my temper, or when I was 3 years in to never getting a full night's sleep, or when I am totally overwhelmed.

I’ve been a nurse done back to back shifts , done 10 night on in a row etc etc , parenting is far harder in my opinion.
