Medical termination of pregnancy.

Just wanted to write a post as when I was looking for others experience or advice going through this, I couldn't find any or they were all horror stories.

I was 8 weeks pregnant. Took my first tablet yesterday at 2pm in clinic. Had no symptoms at all, was still have pregnancy sickness as normal. Took 2 co-codamol at 12 and then my 4 tablets today at 2pm and lay down in bed and rested. Had no cramping or symptoms until around 5pm I started to get normal period pains. I got up and went to the bathroom and noticed I had started to bleed, I set on the toilet and within a few minutes I passed a clot around the size of a plum. I did see it and could infact not tell it was a fetus, but could see the placenta. Bleeding was quite heavy, a bit heavier than a heavy period. I got cleaned up got back in to bed and took 2 more co-codamol at 5.20pm just incase pain did get bad but totally could have done without them. I went to the bathroom again at 18:30 and passed another clot the same size and the pain totally went away. It's currently 20:20 and I am still bleeding heavy but in absolutely no pain. I didn't need to use the last 2 tablets given to me. I know everyone's experience isn't going to be the same but please don't listen to the horror stories online, I panicked myself and it was totally fine for me. Obviously emotionally it's draining but physically after a few hours it's over.

i hope this can help someone and put them at ease. I wish I seen a post like this before I went through it.

it's never a nice experience to go through this but I believe everyone's choice is the right choice for them in times like this. X

What a caring post. I’m sure that it will help other women making this decision. I’m glad it went without too much pain and I hope you are feeling ok now.

If only we lived in a world where topics like this weren’t such taboo.

Look after yourself OP and be gentle on yourself. I agree completely that everyone’s choice is the right one for them. You are so kind to think of others and share with them at such a difficult time.

Sending you a hug..

Sadly I had to do this once due to a medical situation..I managed to have dd afterwards no problem..sadly the pregnancy wasn't viable and I went for the tablets at home rather than hospital invention and had a follow up scan a week later...no pain, just a heavy period (I was 8 weeks) and I purposely didn't look in the toilet as advised by the nurse...it seemed very simple and easy although I'd have loved to not been in this situation but never judge anyone who needed to do this for other reasons..as mentioned before I made dd with no issues within a year. Thanks for sharing as it will help others x

thinking of you op.

I had a very similar experience to you. A remember a post similar to this years ago I read the day before my appointment, it gave me great comfort. I hope this can do the same for others. ♥️
