To buy an Emma Mattress

Sorry, most boring topic ever, but hey ho.

We have a Casper, which is/was great, but no longer sold in the UK, so I was looking at similar 'bed in a box' type things to replace it now it's reached the end of its life. Good Housekeeping recommends the Emma Hybrid Thermacool, but reviews online are pretty mixed to say the least. Should I still go for it if I have something similar that I like? Or put up with our old no-longer-supportive one for a bit longer and shop around?

I've not slept properly for a month and I think that's basically forcing me into 'we need to replace this now'.

I wouldn't buy another one.
My side is fine, DH is a big man, his size is lobbed and flat, has to be rotated regularly.
Apparently the premium range is good. Mine wasn't exactly cheap, my Dsis has premium, they're normal sized adults, she loves her one

I used to have an Emma and hated it - it was rock hard so we gave it away.

I now have a simba which is much better though they do go a bit saggy in time.

The best by far is a tempur but the prices are rather eeek unless you can get them on sale.

Neither of us are especially small so the sagging was a bit of a concern.

We had terrible damp in our old place, especially near the bed (it affected wooden slats which we had to replace) so that's another reason I'm thinking we should replace sooner rather than later!

I like a much harder bed than many people and I love my Emma! It's 5 years old now and still doing well (me and DH not especially big people though)

We have an Emma and it’s v comfy other than it has a slight slope on the sides … I can’t describe it other than to say when I get too close to the end I def feel like I’m about to fall off?

You can get Casper mattresses on Amazon UK. https://amzn.eu/d/5DOWXme

I was looking for a mattress last year in July and was considering to buy Emma mattress however when I read reviews, I wasn’t convinced it was a good choice so I went and bought Simba mattress. I’m definitely very happy with my choice. Maybe need to wait another several years to see the full picture however no issues so far.

That's through a weird third-party seller, which puts me off.

They don't sell their mattresses directly here anymore.

I don’t like the one we have. In fact, we ended up putting that in the spare room and going back to the pocket sprung one it replaced

I really liked our Emma mattress (forget the exact model but I think it was a premium one) but it didn't last very well, it went really soft in the middle after about 3 years and we replaced it.

Hated our Emma mattress. Was so uncomfortable. We got the bed frame too and that was utter shite. We’ve just replaced it all and got a Hypnos mattress. It was an an expensive mistake.

Lemonade2011 · 03/06/2025 14:43

We looked at them, simba and tempur and ended up getting a Hypnos mattress and sprung base, so so comfy not cheap but worth it! My mum has the Emma and seems to like it though.
