Gudrun Sjoden clothing sizes

Can anyone explain why Gudrun Sjoden, Swedish clothing company, don’t do all their clothes in XXL? I’ve never known any clothing company that does this. I found the company around 2014/2015 while reading the Guardian newspaper in a cafe. I had quite a lot of clothes from them, loved the quirky designs & colours.

But as others have said in an older thread on here, it’s expensive and difficult to return. I did some exchanges, so I wasn’t charged the return fee, but if the exchange item was a higher price, their UK office in Scotland called you, to cancel original payment & take the higher payment!

I did try to contact them online to ask about why they didn’t do all sizes in XXL, but they fudged it & didn’t give a straight answer. Something along the line of, “there are some clothes in a larger fit”?? I stopped buying from them for about 3 years, found a wonderful UK plus size company in Peterborough, who do all clothes in size 14-42. They’re very good quality, though pricey & you can request different length, sleeves types & great designs, imo.

I have started buying certain items from Gudrun Sjoden, their long cardigans are really good & usually in XXL, but today with some extra items in, one I like is only up to XL. They clearly don’t listen to their customers 😭

I don’t think there needs to be an explanation? They’re not a plus size specific clothing company, they do sizes from 6/8 up to 22/24 which is pretty decent range. They clearly don’t sell enough in some styles to justify making the XXL sizes, otherwise they would! That’s their prerogative as a business.

I’ve not found the returns process to be particularly onerous personally.

It’s disappointing when something you like isn’t available in your size, but it’s no one’s fault.

Plenty of companies don’t do all their clothes in all sizes.

DownWhichOfLate · 03/06/2025 19:58

I dunno. Why doesn’t the company in Peterborough do smaller sizes?

saltinesandcoffeecups · 03/06/2025 20:01

They clearly don’t listen to their customers

They listen to enough of them to be profitable.

What’s the name of the Peterborough company please @dublin29

Just had a look at the search filters on their website, and 384 items are available in XXL compared to 237 in XS. In the L and XL sizes there are 688 items available, which is the largest amount of any of the sizes. So about 56% of their stock is available in the XXL size, and all of it in the XL size. That seems pretty decent to me!

It’s “Wolfairy”.

I'd probably pay more attention to the generous/easy/standard fit descriptions. I recently tried on a lot of items in Copenhagen & found some XXLs were smaller than XLs.

My issue is that I can only wear their cropped trousers, which are full length plus some on me. After a weekend in Denmark I decided that most Scandinavians are at least a foot taller than me. Saved me a lot of returns hassle. Jumpers and their plain tops are usually fine though.

dublin29 · 03/06/2025 20:17

Wolfairy don’t do smaller sizes (under size 14) as they are marketed as a plus size clothes company, where Gudrun Sjoden are not.

Why are you complaining here about it? You’ve already made your preference known to them and they don’t appear to care.

I’m very confused by this thread.

So maybe that’s why not everything is available in XXL

Is this just an advert for the company in Peterborough?

Thank you @dublin29
