I have a degree, a pgce and QTS.

I did one term of ECT then decided I didn’t want to teach primary. I left and went on supply for a few years. I now have a role as a tutor for SEN , alternative FE setting. The setting intends to focus more on education and become a registered college. Not ofsted regulated no plans to be .

They know I don’t have my ECT. It’s not required for this role . The requirements for this role was qts , qtls or level 5 in teaching and learning but essentially I am more qualified. They have offered me an NPQ in leading teacher development with a view to support the training of tutors , TA’s etc. I love this job and see real progression here. They seem to love me ( never felt like that anywhere) .

I know I’m overthinking but is it definite that I won’t need to do my ECT? I can’t believe my luck with how it’s going and I keep worrying that at one point they will say “ oh you don’t have your ECT done” - but they do know. The other teachers there have trained within the company , so not maintained school based so ECT doesn’t apply . But is this right that in this type of setting you don’t need to do your ECT. It says online it’s not needed in FE or independent schools .

You don’t need it for FE or university. Good luck, FE is a great place to work.
