Is it the shorts or me?

Went to put my denim shorts on this weekend, they are size 14 and were uncomfortably tight 😔
went to pick up a cheap pair from Primark. Upon trying on the 16 & 18, they are both way too tight, more so than my original size 14. My size 14 fit in October.

What is happening? Do I need a size 20?! Have I gone from a size 14 to 20 in that time.
I don’t understand because aren’t Primarks clothes usually larger?

Feel really down

Primark sizes are not massive for me! I’m a 12 everywhere else but they wouldn’t even go past my thighs in Primark!

I always think primark sizing is very small compared to everywhere else!

@Eerilyquiettodayontheculdesac Have you tried any other clothes that also no longer fit?

smileymylie25 · 02/06/2025 10:40

i went into primark changing rooms with denim shorts one size 6 and one 8. The 6 was too big and the 8 was too tight they’re sizing isn’t great, don’t beat yourself up

There’s not always a lot of consistency with clothes. I have some old size 12 Primark Jeggings which fit perfectly but their current range of Jeggings are so tight I can hardly get the size 14 on, I’d have to go up to a size 16 to fit comfortably. Sainsburys/Tu size 12 Jeggings fit fine. So I don’t think Primark are always bigger.

Primark sizing is all over the place. I'm usually a 12, but I've got 10, XS, 16, L from Primark. Perhaps the sizing is off, or perhaps you've gained weight - either way it matters not what the number on the label is.
