Best portable hands free breast pump for large breasts

Not an AIBU, but posting here for traffic as feeling very lost and desperate.

I recently gave birth to my beautiful son at just 24 weeks pregnant. We have a very long NICU journey ahead of us and I am trying to pump 8 times per day to get my milk stocked up for him and also so it doesn’t dry up.

I am looking for recommendations for the best hands free portable breast pumps (the type you can apparently put in your bra and go about your day). The issue I’m worried about is I have very large breasts and I’m worried they won’t stay on or won’t fit in my bra etc.

Has anyone used one they can recommend please? I have a hospital grade one at home and in NICU, so this would just be for if we’re out and about. Thanks!

My sister is a lactation consultant and a JJ cup.

Regret to say she says all the hands free pumps are a massive waste of time.

I had a momcozy one, can't recall my size post pregnancy but it would have been larger than a 36G, which i am now. I used it as a backup pump especially if I was out and needed to express. It wasn't as good as my non hands free pump but it did the job when needed and stopped the recurrent mastitis I was getting. You have my sympathy, I couldn't feed my DS until he was about 9 months old and I was pumping 8 times a day for a long while, it's not fun.

I had a much briefer NICU journey but I threw myself in to pumping milk. I tried the hospital medela pumps but had much better results from Pipetta handsfree pumps. I regularly wear when driving, doing housework, walking dogs, etc. can’t recommend more. My wee boy is almost 9 months old, he’s still guzzling bottles of my milk as well as feeding x

Thank you for your replies. I’m using the Medela at home and the hospital and definitely not expecting the same results with a hands free pump, just need something so I’m not tied to being one of two places every 2-3 hours. It’s crazy how quickly time flies between pumps and I find myself playing catch up!

Do you mind me asking if you have large breasts? Every Pipetta advert I see is a tiny skinny woman with B/C cups at most.

Hi there, congratulations on your little one! I had this hands-free pump from Amazon. A bit like a knock-off version of the very pricey Elvie. I thought it was fantastic! Always got loads of milk with it although this was once I had an established supply. Fine for big boobs too. I really rate it!

Congrats for your lo. I've used the nuliie( the ones in the pic not the other model they have, that one's rubbish) after maybe 2 months of pumping - I've expressed for about 17 months in total. Lo fed with only breast milk for first 6 months and have had extra milk always. She started to drink less around 12 mo so I've started to pump less and eventually moved to goats and oat milk. I've been quite religious with pumping for the first 3 months aprox then I was pumping 4 x a day in longer sessions. Big breasts and they worked well for me. I've tried 2 other types of wearable breast pumps with little results .Oh I've built to the highest setting on the pumps to get this results. Not sure if the right way but it worked for me without issues ( ie mastitis ).
Ps : make sure you attach them correctly if you decide to try them. I was always double checking after some failed attempts.

Yes I have FF cup usually and they’re bigger than that currently! I have no issues wearing the pumps handsfree. I wore the strap extenders initially but my nursing bra’s are stretched enough now I don’t need the extenders

Elvie all the way over here - I had trouble with pumping and it was actually the most successful one for me

I had the momcozy M5’s and have larger breasts (no perky nothings here 😂😭) and they worked great throughout my pumping journey. I did have to get the motor replaced 2x but was send replacements with very little fuss just a pain for the times I didn’t have them during the replacement periods but I also had a spectre for the hospital grade pump sessions to boost my milk on occasions and help with clogged milk ducts.

I think your bra is going to be the game changer with a hands free pump, like I don’t think my momcozy would’ve been as effective if I didn’t also have a really good supportive bra. This was usually nursing / or even sports bra with large cup size but smaller band size so it stuck a little tighter to me. For my next baby I’m upgrading to M6 which my younger sister is using for her little one at the moment and it’s meant to be spill free hoping that’s the case for larger breasts as well.
