Is it just mums on this site?

All websites are available for all people.
Call it what you like, you can’t stop any one type of person accessing it.
There is no way of making it so ONLY mums go on it.
The advice covers many topics.
Even just the baby/child based stuff is relevant to all sorts of people- anyone who helps to take care of children.

Why OP? What is the correlation between this and the weed thread you started?

I think it’s bloody brilliant that the site is not just used by ‘mums’, and I am one.
I think you get a far broader and less insular sense of perspective because of the fact the site is used by everyone.

Definitely.

Yeah it’s good. But should be called something else

I disagree. The name means it’s a predominantly female place. There are very few places online that are. And this place is skewed towards women’s voices and perspective. Men who come here are either very secure in chatting to mostly women (so they aren’t space-invading arseholes) or they are misogynists who want to shut women up (and there are more of us so they get told).

The internet is FULL of male spaces and voices. Leave MN alone.

It’s in the name lol

What difference does that make? The site is for anyone who's interested, and most threads on AIBU are not about parenting.

I come on here because I thought it was just mums but I don’t mind that it’s not

I like that it's a female led site, founded by women, for women and initially for a time in their life when they are vulnerable- more likely to be subject to abuse, physically more vulnerable, financially disadvantaged or going through the TTC or pregnancy both of which have uniquely female elements. It's great that it's broader, and inclusive, but given the male dominance of other sites I can think of, I like the name and the ethos.

HappyHedgehog247 · 30/05/2025 22:08

Inclusive, but female centred.
